As of February 2025, I am officially Louisiana’s newest licensed cosmetologist. NOTHING but God!

This post is for motivation only — for anyone who’s ever felt like giving up, felt like they were too far behind, or questioned their own path.

My journey wasn’t smooth. There was doubt, guilt for not finishing school “the right way,” and fear that kept me off the grid for a while. I even ran into State Board twice, and both times they threatened to take my hours away. That shook me.

I moved out of my childhood home, had to find a new place to work, and God placed people in my life — not for a long time, but for the right time. I’m forever grateful for everyone who helped me along the way.

Then came motherhood. I had my newborn with me at work, doing hair with a baby on my chest, feeling completely unprofessional and overwhelmed. I cried in silence more times than I can count. I even got asked to leave a shop after falling behind on rent. But every time I felt like it was over, God opened another door.

I failed the hands-on state board exam multiple times — but I didn’t give up. I studied, stayed focused, and passed. Now I’m working out of my own suite, licensed, booked, with products, merch, and new doors opening because I’m certified and qualified — all while being a full-time mom.

This is your reminder: Don’t quit. Even when it’s hard. Keep going, trust God, and believe in what you’re building.
