Safe City Youth Summit, 30th Anniversary. Tai Chi, followed by the workshop “Parents aren’t the Experts” or “Perfect,” is it was revised. We spoke about places where Youth voices are silenced and in many cases, that begins in the home. It’s also an opportunity for Parents to allow themselves to become student again, without surrendering their role. Great event but short. Another session of “Cornucopia,” where we blend Cooking and mentoring into 1
Session. When I spoke with DPS and shared how broad my work experience was, they said “talk about whatever the kids want to talk about!” During the session, we typically cover, Cooking, Poetry, Assisted Living, clothing brands and high end Property Management. I also try to fold in cultural experiences from living in Denver, Nashville, NYC/LI, and Miami. by @crownandalbrook

I had a chance to develop “Cornucopia,” through DPS’ Xlpore Program, last yea. This surprisingly, a Very dope group of young Men. Surprised because they were all athletes and very eager to cook. We collaborated on the menu and made both, Fried Rice and a Pasta. We focused on mise en place, knife skills, and the second half of our day, was a mentoring/coaching session on various topics. Most of them asked about, cooking related careers but we covered a lot. Over the last year, I’ve been cultivating Panacea as a single container for Life Coaching, Mentoring, Poetry and cooking. More programs on the way for students and adults! by @crownandalbrook

This was from the Safe CIty Youth Summit’s 30 yr Anniversary. I hosted a workshop called, “Parents Aren’t the Experts,” which is being changed to “Parents Aren’t Perfect.” Its stems from a much needed conversations about the capacity of adults and how much they actually know. This was shortened, since it was preceded by Tai Chit but still, the kids were heard! Video coming! by @crownandalbrook

I facilitated “Train the Trainers,” last Friday which was for any adults in the education space. Teachers, Mentors, etc. We covered the curriculum that was “anti-vaping,” but aimed at strengthening relationships with youth. After the standard lesson, we built our own wraps; Grilled Salmon or Chicken with Harissa and a few options for dipping sauces. We closed out with Tea and Meditation. Small group but it was a good day. I just needed to make more Grilled Red Bell Pepper sauce…. by @crownandalbrook

LUNCH: Yellowfin Tuna, Coleslaw, Spicy Avocado spread on a Pretzel bun w/Kimchi Chips. I used a “real” kitchen to make lunch. I haven’t been as consistent with cooking, since leaving Miami but realize it made my time in MIA invaluable. I can’t even say it’s my “happy,” place but more of a quiet place. “Solitude certifies all moves..” @ quietazmoney Meditation has magnified the importance of silence and solitude. Unplugging. All of the above. I value it more than ever… by @crownandalbrook

This is from a Cooking Class, at The Action Center, in Lakewood. A food distribution Center, that brought us in to teach cooking classes to the community so, they could take advantage of the food available. Not everyone was familiar with that they had in stock. On most days, we incorporated some fresh ingredients along with the Dry Goods. Very challenging and was the least class friendly kitchen, but we made it happen. Should Edgar and Allison for their Communal Support and leadership, at that time! Video following. by @crownandalbrook
