We are thrilled to announce our giant piece in the Pittsburgh Airport, Gate C-5!

If you are traveling through please take a photo for us, tag us @bufffoto or #bufffoto

Big thanks to @pit_airport_art @pitairport @kenymarshall @reneepiechocki

Having work in an airport is something we've been talking about for years and we are so happy to have this out in the world.

I loved seeing the process of installation and thought I would share some of those photos as well.

Lenore and I are thrilled to announce that our BUFF video, “Hoping Tomorrow Is Already Different From Today,” is an official selection for the @chromaartfilmfest with @rainbowoasiiis at @superblue.art in Miami!!

August 17-18th

My Pittsburgh artwork returning to where I spent my early childhood. Full circle my friends.

This work was originally made for the #microtonalmusicfestival at @thewarholmuseum with @delsolquartet playing the Michael Harrison score live. It has been part of several exhibitions and won an Honorable Mention at the @coopgallery film festival.

Side note: this video makes Lenore and I tear up every time we get to the end.

Y'all- it's been a long time since we've had an exhibition! Come see the incredible work of my colleagues @brewhousearts! Opening Thursday, March 21st from 6-8pm

Curated by the amazing @ellen.larson

"I come from that place. I come from here, and I am neither here nor there. I have two names that come together but pull apart. I have two languages, but I have forgotten which is the language of my dreams.”

—Mahmoud Darwish

Neither Here nor There features recent work by seventeen faculty members of the University of Pittsburgh’s Studio Arts Department. While these artists all engage in disparate forms of multimedia creation such as video, photography, printmaking, painting, installation, and sculpture, their unique practices underscore shared investments in locating the fluid nature of things in between. Artists grapple with issues of movement and migration, displacement, the politics of remembering, and identity as neither here nor there, not one thing nor another, but simultaneously occurring at the same time.

Selected works are loosely grouped based on asymmetrical relationships to environment, systems of belonging, memory, ritual, and the body. Emphasizing frameworks aimed at dismantling normative systems, Neither Here nor There sees time as malleable—it thickens, pools, and elongates, ultimately highlighting ways of seeing as powerful acts of protest and resistance. taken in Brew House Arts by @crunchshark

New things in the works!

Making art is so hard when your chair of the department. An hour here, another there. It isn't how I imagine most artists thrive in the studio. I certainly don't. I'm forcing myself with the help of @graces._.art11 to make new work. Prints combined with cnc, laser cutting, folding, sculpture- we are diving back in! taken in Frick Fine Arts Building by @crunchshark

This isn't the tree we got, but I loved it so much! It was too wide for my house. So I gave it a big hug instead! 💚🎄

I am beyond thankful for my partner, family, and friends who have been with me and supported me (and continue to support me). I am a very private person and have decided to share this because it might help others on their journey.

In April of this year, I was diagnosed with De novo Metastatic Stage IV breast cancer. The cancer is in my bones. Six months before I went into the doctor for a lump that I found, I had a clear mammogram. I was getting regular mammograms and doing "the right thing." I did not have breast cancer before this. You better bet I asked why me? I was pissed! Saddened! In a state of shock. I still grieve. My cancer is not curable. I have to work with my doctor's to live long enough so that research finds a cure.

I'm currently doing great. The drugs are working. I have drastically changed my nutrition and lifestyle with the help of an incredible doctor. My tumors are shrinking. My doctors are cautiously optimistic with my progress.

You can not look at me and know that I'm sick, but I'm fighting every day to save my life. With the love, support, and care of those around me , I'm feeling good today.

Also- we adopted an amazing dog this summer who is helping me on this journey. 🩷 Kenobi taken in My Happy Place by @crunchshark
