Today was the last day to see the special release of the newly-restored-in-4k “9 to 5” at my local theater, and since I had never seen it before (gasp! I know) I definitely couldn’t miss the opportunity. The proceeds from ticket sales are going towards Dolly’s The Dollywood Foundation to support her beloved Imagination Library. It was most certainly worth it to see this beloved film as it was intended, on the big screen.

It’s genuinely hard to believe it’s been 365 days since Mom passed. It’s been a rough year, but I’m glad I’ve been able to make it through.

In her honor today, I did some of her favorite things: I “took” her to the beach, had some Thrasher’s (1st time since our last time, over two years ago), played some Skee Ball, & finally had dinner at Texas Roadhouse.

I know she’s still with me in all the little ways (a butterfly here, a Punch Buggie there), & for that I’m grateful. We miss you Mom. And love you more than you could ever know.

✨Dolly Parton: January 19, 1946 — August 25, 2026✨

This one hurts. Mom’s one year passing anniversary is in a week & that isn’t helping. I’m very grateful I was able to find her Hollywood Star back in June. There aren’t any words to describe how much of an impact Dolly has had on the world in the 6 decades she’s been blessing us with her talents. We thank you for the rhinestones & glam, the songs & the books. Now rest easy, on that bed of cotton.

It’s been 8 years since the last CAD I was able to “celebrate,” so it was fun to finally get to wear the cow ears I specifically bought for future events. Also a fun excuse to visit Salisbury’s newest location (@southsalisburycfa).

✨California: Day 8 — Museum of Art & Digital Entertainment, Robert W. Crown Memorial State Beach, Ariana Grande concert; Day 9 — travel from Oakland to LA; Day 10 — fly back home✨

June 10 - 12, 2026

Another 5 a.m. post to round out the California trip a month after it started. Our last full day in Oakland was a great one, starting out at the MADE museum where they have nearly the entire history of video games on display & most are playable!! Had to play a short round of Left4Dead on the Xbox 360 & the first chapter of “Disaster Report” on the PS2. Then we went to a beach, where I got to touch “west coast water” (not quite the Pacific Ocean proper, but the San Francisco Bay was refreshing enough), and we finished the night watching Ari sing up close. Each experience on this trip has been amazing & makes me want to visit again as soon as possible. Day 9 was our final long travel day back to LA, where we flew back home on Day 10 (after thunderstorms here on the Shore delayed our flight 2 hours 🙃). The West Coast was amazing & I truly hope I’m able to go back & do some of the things we didn’t make it to this time.

✨ California — Day 6: Forest Lawn Memorial Park (Hollywood Hills), drive to Oakland; Day 7: Lakeside Park Garden Center, Jack London Square; Day 8: Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park (Monteiro Trail to Dunn Trail) ✨

June 7 - 9, 2026

Another late night post (what else does one do at 3am lol). This time days 6 - 8 of our trip. Day 6 was our travel day, so after one last stop at what we affectionately call “Universal Studios,” I made the one stop I required this entire trip — Forest Lawn Cemetery to visit the final resting place of Carrie Fisher & her mother Debbie Reynolds. I grew up living both women & never had the honor of meeting them in life, but I’m forever thankful that I got to visit their shared grave. Truly an experience I’ll never forget. Day 7 was an exploration day around Oakland, spending time by the water of Lake Merritt before looking around Jack London Square. Day 8 was another bucket-list thing for one of us: seeing redwoods in person. Imagine my shock when we reach the end of the random trail we picked to walk and see a DUNN TRAIL. My surname isn’t very common on either coast, so I’m still blown away at finding that. All 3 days are truly experiences I’m so grateful to have had.

Only 3 days left to post about, we’ll see if I can squeeze it all into 20 slides…

✨California: Day 5 — OnePiece Cafe, EightyTwo arcade/bar, & Round 1 & Bookoff at the Lakewood Center ✨

June 6, 2026

Day 5 is next (Day 4 was a lazy day & all we did was pick up our rental car). That cafe was awesome & food was delicious. After that, we walked around Little Tokyo before heading to EightyTwo — a bar that has a bunch of vintage arcade games & pinball machines. We could’ve spent all day there, but then we headed to the Lakewood Center Mall to explore & play at Round1. Finished that visit with a very brisk walkthrough of BookOff, a dangerous store where I only spent $1 on a single book. A fairly laid-back day that I would die to do again.

[I’m sorry I’m posting this at 3am, I can’t sleep again 🥲 but I also want to post the whole trip before Saturday]

✨California: Day 3 — Hollywood Walk of Fame & Madame Tussaud’s ✨

June 4, 2026

Since it’s 5:00am & I can’t sleep, here’s day three of my California trip. Getting to watch Keith David unveil his Star was such a cool experience ⭐️. Both things were my picks of “bucket list” things to do, so I’m very thankful I was able to find just about all the Stars I was hoping to. The only Star I had to hunt down was Tony Bennett’s, the rest we happened to walk by as we explored. Madame Tussaud’s was also a joy, getting to see two Gaga’s & a life-size Jake Sully in his Na’vi form were some of the highlights on the whole trip for me. As was getting to see Carrie Fisher’s memorial plaque & Star, as well as her mother’s & father’s Stars. Definitely worth all the walking.

Side note: I took 800 pictures this day alone (it’s a problem, I know 💀), having to pick only 20 has been a challenge lol.

June 2 - 12, 2026

I’ve been home for almost a week & still can’t believe that I got to spend 10 days in CALIFORNIA. I had never been that far away from home before, but I’m so, so glad that I took the chance. I got to see things & do experiences that I know I’ll likely never do again. Universal Stuidos (finally got to ride the Mummy), the Walk of Fame (seeing Keith David unveil his Star in person!!!), Forest Lawn Cemetery (visited Carrie & Debbie), finding a hiking trail with my last name (‼️), and ending the trip with my 1st Ariana Grande concert 🤍. I’m so so SO thankful for it all.

I’ll definitely be making more posts about each thing I did — it was hard choosing only 20 pics from all the ones I took over those 10 days 😅. This is just a highlight reel of sorts.

🇺🇸 America 250 🇺🇸

Attended my first America 250 event of the year yesterday, “250th Year of National Independence”, held at a local historic property. It may have been hot, but it was also very fun exploring the buildings & seeing the colonial “exhibits”. Can’t wait to see some of the other events they have planned for this year.
