Well, I have been spending some time lately trying to check things off my summer shot list; a list I have to admit I have been very negligent in addressing up until now. Having said that, I'm getting caught up and my step counter can attest to that. Today I am sharing some shots of the Notre Dame Cathedral on Sussex Drive in Lowertown here in #Ottawa. It has a long history here with its construction starting in 1841. Just think of the generations of Ottawans and visitors to the city who have seen its twin spires reaching towards the sky. That's something we all have in common and I think that is cool. And from some views around it, you could almost forget there is a city surrounding it (in pictures, if not in person). It makes a very strong architectural statement and feels kind of timeless.

The Tin House in the Byward Market in #Ottawa is fascinating during the day and a little bit creepy at night. It's worth getting out of the house sometimes.

Concerts are pretty much always cool, but outdoor concerts are the best by far. The sky... the air... so awesome. Though, I have to say that I am getting very close to becoming a lawn chair person. Standing in one spot kills my back anymore. So much for eternal youth! lol

In the spirit of trying to #discover new places around me, I went last week to check out the #Hintonburg #Pumphouse (b. 1899) along the #Ottawa River. As the name describes, it provided water for the Hintonburg area until, I think, 1932, when it was converted to a residence and gatehouse for the water treatment plant on Lemieux Island. It burned down in 1989 and sat derelict and fenced of for decades. Ultimately, it was redeveloped as a historic site retaining what remained of the pumphouse and opened up to the public in 2025. In this view you can see the Chief William Commanda Bridge and Parliament Hill is behind the last bridge section to the left. The skyscrapers of downtown take up the middle of the shot. I would definitely go back and try my luck again at different times of day or with a different sky. There are also lights set up to illuminate the pumphouse after dark, so that might present other interesting photographic opportunities.
