Photos of around Gaddings Dam / Stoodley Pike, late summer - early 🍄 season 2020. Shot on two different roles of (very) expired ‘Truprint’ film. Processed by @elyssaiona in her darkroom last week. These are v grainy & I think instagram doesn’t know what to do w the noise so I’m not sure how these will even look once posted. The TIFs capture more detail but the beaut and dreamlike colouring and soft grainyness from the expired film is still evident I think! taken in Gaddings Dam by @crushzone.darkroom

Starting off my LEEDS DIY photodump is this grainy triptych. My best guess is 2018, some kind of super group consisting of @zadkokar @green_layer_staircase @slaylor_moon and possibly @3d_beat on drums (as an educated guess? Even tho I can’t make him out from these pics). Please do correct me with the details! Was this an end of show jam? Or maybs an opening improv set for Zad while touring? Of course at @wharfchamberscc ! Unfortunately these photos serve as my only memory but I’m sure those pictured will have a better idea.

I’ve been meaning to start some kind of blog for my film photos for years, eventually settled on an instagram account (then years after that, finally made one) insta isn’t ideal (not just cos of it’s psychopathic ownership) cos of annoying cropping, photo compression etc, but it’s easy and accessible and otherwise I’d never get it done! I have thousands of tangled rolls of film & prints and I’m finally wanting to get round to somewhat organising them, and sharing some (which itself takes time, as the laptop & scanner I have access to are both very slow, it can take 10 mins to just scan in one photo…)

I started getting into film photography in a way that’s probably most common for people of my generation - taking a Boots disposable to gigs/festivals as a teen & looking thru dusty photo albums of myself as a child and internalising the ‘special’ feelings of nostalgia and quality of analogue photos during the advent of really terrible quality camera phones or cheap digital cams.

Starting with this photograph, for no particular reason. I found it in a box while moving house a couple of years ago, I remembered it was from my time doing an Erasmus semester in Warsaw in 2017. Probably taken somewhere on the outskirts of the city. For ages I couldn’t work out what had made this print develop those red splotches but dug them nonetheless, but I just remembered around that time I was experimenting with soaking the film in liquids like gone off red wine and lemon juice (‘film souping’ for nerds / hobbyists), so I’m guessing it’s that!
