I have been wrestling with this, I am going to miss you, Scotty.

Everyone has their own story and their own experience with someone. This is mine.

When I first came from Puerto Rico and barely spoke English, you welcomed me into your family. I learned so much from you over the years—from sanding one of the first handmade molds while you were building what became the Acme Skateboards wood shop in Costa Mesa, to watching you build an incredible wood shop from the ground up in China. Later, you introduced me to the world of large-format digital printing, and so much of what I know today came from watching you work.

You were passionate, demanding, and always pushed for things to be done right because you genuinely cared. You worked hard, played even harder, and I’ll never forget the lake trips, the wakeboarding, and all the laughs we shared.

So many people rode skateboards you built, used products you helped create, and benefited from innovations you pioneered without ever knowing the person behind them. Your fingerprints are on far more of this industry than most people will ever realize.

What I’ll remember most, though, is how much you loved your family. I always admired how proud you were of Nicky and how much you loved being his dad.

Thank you for believing in me, teaching me, and changing the course of my life.

My heart goes out to Sandee and Nicky.

One year ago in my motherland, Puerto Rico, we said “I do” in Old San Juan and turned it into three unforgettable days showing the island to friends and family. 🇵🇷🎉 To those who couldn’t make it—you were in our hearts. Grateful for so many amazing people in our lives and for the blessing of second chances.
