The tragic news of former Fox News producer, mental health awareness and anti-sexual abuse advocate Jennifer Eckhart’s passing spread quickly across the nation yesterday.
.
Eckhart lived locally here in South Florida and, in recent years, was involved in a very public domestic violence and sexual abuse lawsuit. I am in no position to provide details, comment on the legal matters involved, or speculate about the circumstances surrounding her passing. I will simply say that she was a public advocate who used her platform to raise awareness about issues that affect many people.

Today, I am sharing a post written by a good friend of mine who knew Jennifer personally. I had never met her but I found this to be quite powerful.
.
Public legal proceedings can bring significant attention and scrutiny, particularly when they involve public figures and deeply personal subject matter. Beyond the legal issues themselves, there are real people involved, each with their own experiences and circumstances.
.
Here in the @palmbeachsaysnomore community, we understand that speaking publicly about difficult experiences can require an enormous amount of courage. Whatever our individual experiences or perspectives may be, I believe there is value in remembering the importance of compassion and humanity when discussing deeply personal matters.

I’m at a loss for words.

Never in a million years did I ever think I would be writing this. You were supposed to be at my funeral one day, @jennifereckhart . Not the other way around.

You were such an influential part of my career, but more than that, you had an impact on my personal life.

We didn’t talk all the time. Life happens. We get busy. We’re all trying to get where we believe we’re destined to be. But whenever we did talk, we connected right away. It was always real.

I just never imagined your life would be cut this short.

One thing that brings me comfort is knowing that during one of the toughest moments of your life, you reached out to me. That meant more to me than I think you ever knew. And I’m grateful that you started coming to church. I’m grateful that my pastor, @tulliantch and his wife, @stacbug73 , were there for you too.

I don’t know what happened in those final moments.

I just know I love you.

And you leave behind a legacy, especially in the lives of the people who knew and loved you.

We had some incredible moments together. We interviewed some of the biggest celebrities. We talked about interviewing the Godfather of basketball himself, Pat Riley. We had ideas. Plans. Future shows we were going to do.

And I know how much Reinvented meant to you.

Maybe because your own life was a story of reinvention. You had to reinvent yourself more than once. You kept finding a way to start another chapter.

I just wish there had been one more chapter.

You will be missed, Jen Eckhart. You will be remembered.

Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for the conversations, the opportunities, the memories, and the friendship.

I love you.
