Hey guess what?! We have a new drummer, and we’d love to introduce you to her 😌🌟Meet @karensundar ~

Karen is a proper rock star who has significantly increased Cryptids’ overall swag factor while also lowering our average height just a bit over the last few months. She has helped us jam new material and continue finding our identity as a band after Andy moved to the UK (rip @scenesfromamemery, gone but not forgotten 😭🙏), and ALSO learned our existing set super quick. We’re sounding slightly rockier and trying to lean into party set energy* which is absolutely thanks to Karen!

You may have seen her around town a few years ago when she was gigging pretty regularly, but she’s been busy becoming a doctor and stuff. We’re honoured to be busting her out of hiatus and to have her on the team!

Fortunately/ unfortunately she is here for a good time not a long time, as she’s leaving Boorloo early next year for a dream med placement. SO, get in while you can and make sure you catch Cryptids in this our 🆒est era. We’re planning to gig a bunch in the next few months (please consider us for your lineups 👉👈🥹), but for now, see you this Saturday night at @lynottslounge while Karen makes her Cryptid debut!!!

Swipe for evidence she is a Very Good And Cool Drummer, and for the look she will give you if you don’t come to our gig on Saturday. We asked for her best ✨cryptid✨ photos and she absolutely delivered.

THIS SATURDAY! You'll find @cryptidsmusic joined by friends @huntinggraceband @_kariannee and @notimetofret from 7:30PM 👣

$15 on the door 🤝 by @cryptidsmusic

From our farewell to Andy gig last week. A special evening, thank you everyone for coming. We will be on hiatus now while we get our new drummer up to speed, hopefully see you all soon.

🚨 IMPORTANT BAND ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨

It is with heavy hearts that we must announce that our resident frog lover and human metronome, Dr Andrew "Andy" Tuckey, will soon be departing the band to take up employment in the UK. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for Andy's creative and personal contribution to the band.

...But music can! To say goodbye to our beloved drummer, we are putting on a farewell gig at @freobuffclubofficial on May 16. Our friends @bribes___, @thevicar_band and @oakabellamae will be playing to make the night a special one.

We hope you can all come along and show your appreciation. 🐸 by @cryptidsmusic

A few photos from In The Pines last week!

More band news coming soon.

Here's handful of photos of us taken in and around Somerville Auditorium, way back when Keana was in the band, to remind you all that we will be performing at said venue for @rtrfm's In the Pines in just over a week! Make sure you get tickets if you haven't already, you don't want to miss this one.

Truly an honour to share that we will be playing at In the Pines this year. @rtrfm have put together an incredible lineup that we are very privileged and excited to be part of. Make sure you head down to Somerville Auditorium on April 19 to support community radio and enjoy the best of the Boorloo music scene. 🌲 by @cryptidsmusic

We shall have some more news to share before too long. In the meantime, some reading for you all! @aldorabritainrecords spoke with us a little while ago about the album, and you can now read it all via the link in our bio. Super nice write up, hope you enjoy reading it! by @cryptidsmusic

Your next opportunity to see us live will be on Saturday, 7 Feb. We are very excited to say we will be supporting @thedrownersband with their album launch gig at @freobuffclubofficial, alongside our friends @nigellascreaming and @teenangstband. This lineup is literally too good to miss out on!!

Happy 2026! We'll be starting our year of gigging at @lyricsundergroundmaylands on Jan 30. Playing with @cassis.black for their single launch, alongside @los_removalists_ . Tickets via the link in our bio. See you there!! 🫶 by @cryptidsmusic

2025! What a year! We released our debut album and played some of our biggest and most fun gigs yet! Thank you to everyone who has listened to us, played with us, or come to one of our shows this year. We'll be taking a little break now, but can't wait to do it all again in 2026. We already have a few exciting things lined up.

Hope you all have a happy and safe holiday period celebrating whatever it is you celebrate. Look after each other and yourselves and enjoy all the fun things summer brings.

Love,
Dan and Cryptids
