God is so kind. As many of you know I’ve been in the process of finishing my earned doctorate in clinical neuropsychology. My testimony is that along the way God has doubled my efforts and ensured that none of the work I’ve been blessed to do has gone unnoticed. In recognition of nearly 2,000 success stories over the last 5 years from my work as a suicide/homicide counselor and working in crisis prevention/management for the mental health field, I’m proud to receive an honorary doctorate today at the illustrious Morehouse College in Atlanta Georgia. Lately my heart hasn’t been able to withstand recognition without weeping and being grateful because in the words of mama brown “people don’t have to be nice to you but when they are make sure you say thank you.” So thank you for this honor, my heart is full and filled with joy. My prayer is that I can continue the work in ministry and mental health and advance my work in clinical research and pediatric neuropsychology.

Now pray for me as I enter this last stretch of studying the brain and staying up until 11:59pm every night.

CAN WE TALK? Therapy and the Church. THE PANEL IS HERE! 🤍

I’m so excited to introduce the incredible voices joining me for our first conversation! We’ve brought together licensed mental health professionals who also understand the language of faith to help us navigate conversations that deserve both spiritual wisdom and clinical understanding.

The Church deserves resources that help us care for the WHOLE person and that means spiritually, emotionally, and mentally! People deserve spaces where asking for help doesn’t come with shame. Thats’s the heart behind the “CAN WE TALK?” Series

I’m creating a space where therapists, clinicians, and leaders can come together for honest, thoughtful conversations about therapy, mental health, faith, and the Church. Not to replace prayer, not to diminish faith but to add language, tools, understanding, and resources that can help us care for people well.

I want YOU in the room! Whether you’re a pastor, ministry leader, clinician, or someone who simply wants to better understand the intersection of faith and mental health, this conversation is for you.

I’m creating a space where therapists, clinicians, and leaders can come together for honest, thoughtful conversations about therapy, mental health, faith, and the Church. Not to replace prayer, not to diminish faith but to add language, tools, understanding, and resources that can help us care for people well.

I want this series to be something individuals can learn from, but also something pastors, ministry leaders, and churches can pull from as a resource when navigating conversations that sometimes require the help of clinicians. There should be no shame in needing support, no shame in sitting with a therapist, no shame in acknowledging that something hurts and certainly no shame in loving Jesus while doing the work necessary to heal.

Prayer has a place and so does processing, so let’s make room for BOTH.

So I’m inviting some of my therapist and clinician friends to the conversation, and we’re going to talk about the things that happen at the intersection of the couch and the Church.

Oh AND ITS FREE!

It felt SO good to be back in the building with our church family today! One thing about @reformationmemphis …we’re going to LOVE ON YOU! The smiles, the hugs, the genuine love—you can feel it the moment you walk through the doors. We love y’all so much! 🫶🏽♥️

Today, our sweet boy underwent surgery to remove a partially fused suture in his skull, and all I can say is… God has been so incredibly faithful.

The surgery was beautiful, and Levi is recovering so well. We are beyond grateful for the incredible team at LeBonheur Children’s hospital, especially Dr. Klimo and Dr. Evans whose skill, compassion, and care gave us so much peace throughout this journey AND they know and love JESUS….

If I’m honest, I’ve wrestled with whether to share the “lows” of this season because behind the scenes, our family has also been grieving the tragic loss of one of my immediate family members to suicide and my heart has been ACHING.
Through it all, my husband has been my safe place to land. Thank you for carrying me when I didn’t have the strength to stand on my own, holding me when I’ve cried myself to sleep, for covering our family, praying without ceasing, and reminding me of God’s faithfulness even when my heart was breaking. I couldn’t have walked this season without you.

Today is a reminder that God is near to the brokenhearted and faithful in every season. He has carried us through grief, uncertainty, and fear and today we rejoice in His goodness because like pastor @shavonssmith said “God will give you good news for your bad times”.

Thank you to everyone who prayed, checked on us, and stood with our family. We have felt every prayer. God is still a healer. God is still faithful and our little cowboy is doing so well. 🤍 by @crystal.raee
