When a suggestion for a "craft night" turns into a standing twice a month event. Good food, laughter and karaoke are a must!!

Not always just crafts. We're up for learning new things too. Small space, big fun!!

Love putting a charcuterie board together...yum.

Hmm, what should we do next?!

Who doesn't love a fun, creativity or quirky gallery wall? It's like making a cake or favorite dish...your favorite "things" instead art, photos, keepsakes are the ingredients that make it special.

This gallery wall was super inexpensive. Some @dollartree frames, others just spray painted. Pics from travel, cards and my own thoughts. Plate from Spain. Little mirror from @worldmarket

Keys (butterfly hook from @walmart) and my @obamafoundation cap always on standby

Are you team gallery wall?

Oh I'll be waiting!!!!!
Missing (because I couldn't add photo) is By The Book...

After The Proposal, I was sad the next book didn't follow Carlos and Nikole (Nik), but then I absolutely loved The Wedding Party.

Took Drunk on Love on my 2 week Mediterranean cruise...late night & early morning reads with a ocean view💕

Can't wait to see you in Los Angeles @reparations.club next month!!

Thank you for the escape!

Cheers to a healthier, hopefully happier and prosperous, productive 2026. I've given up on resolutions, but have tried being more decisive and mindful abd pro-active of my choices...for the better.

As I age, I have less patience for negativity and rudeness. Purging those people, like clothes, has become easier to do. I breathe easier.

Wishing us all the best in the new year.

See post 1-2 for details, this is post 2

Saturday, I spent my morning experiencing and seeing downtown L.A. aka DTLA in a whole new light. I booked a 2 hour walking tour through @blacklatours
hosted by @shanaybraxton.

We all met Shanay outside of Union Station, (which I don't think I've been inside of in over 20 years) . She greeted us with nice reusable black bags. And we were off!

Did I mention I got my steps in too!! Yay!!!

We walked through famous Olvera Street, and the 'hidden' black history stories began. Some or all of these stories might be known to some, but not all. I say "hidden" because there are no real visible markers to make you aware.

Shaynay provided great historical information and photos about the men and women who played roles in the makeup of Los Angeles. Women like Miriam Matthews, who became the first credentialed African American librarian to be hired by the Los Angeles Public Library.

She kept records of founders/families of El Pueblo de Los Angeles. Two of those families were the Mesa and Quintero families were "negro" and "mulatto."

Walking through Little Tokyo we learned that during 1940s, specifically 1942, when the Japanese were interned in camps, the area became Bronzeville and inhabited by black people to thriving businesses.

Streets I've never ventured to held so many stories and history. Azusa St was home to the Penecostal revival.

Not far from there is the history of Biddy Mason, a slave who, walked behind her "owners" from Mississippi to Los Angeles, fought for her freedom, became a mid wife & after saving $250 (took her 10 yrs), purchased land.

Shanay was so engaging with us and our questions. She challenged us with questions too. The walk was paced perfectly. Shaynay has a background in tourism. She joined the peace corp and has lived worldwide.

We ended the tour at Hilltop Coffee & Kitchen. I had a refreshing matcha lemonade 💚 saw the Angels Flight the historic, century-old funicular railway nearby.

We took the train back to Union Station and walking through the station, it's so beautiful!!!

I parked at the station. I thought it was going to be super expensive, but I only paid $16 for 3 hrs.
