The County of Santa Clara Behavioral Health Services Department is pleased to introduce Our Common Ground (OCG) at 264 North Morrison Avenue; a new Residential Substance Use Treatment Facility supporting our community. The establishment of this facility is a direct result of the County’s coordinated response to the behavioral health and substance use crisis. This ongoing commitment is to ensure that all residents have access to high-quality, evidence-based treatment and recovery services.

Our Common Ground’s facility has 32 beds at 264 North Morrison will provide 24-hour, structured residential treatment for individuals seeking recovery from substance use disorders.

The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors recognized September as Suicide Prevention Month with an official proclamation honoring the important work of the Santa Clara County Public Health Department and Behavioral Health Services Department.

We are proud to stand together in raising awareness, reducing stigma, expanding access to support, and reminding our community that every life matters and help is available.

Suicide prevention is everyone’s responsibility. By starting conversations, listening with compassion, and connecting people to resources, we can make a difference—together.

Today, we came together for International Overdose Awareness Day to remember the neighbors we have lost, support their loved ones, and stand with everyone navigating substance use, recovery, and grief. 💜

This year’s theme, Honoring Grief, Finding Connection, reminds us of the power of community, compassion, and connection to care. In Santa Clara County, overdose deaths have declined from 353 in 2022 → 317 in 2023 → 275 in 2024. This progress shows that harm reduction, treatment, and meeting people where they are saves lives, but our work is far from over.

🙏🏽🥰 We have been so lucky to have had two amazing therapy master’s level student interns working with our Gender Affirming Care Clinic this year. Arden and Ves have been incredible team members, supporting dozens of clients work on their mental health goals and bringing wisdom, wit, and fun to our team discussions. Our clinical supervisor Michelle has been a steadfast mentor for Arden and Ves, and last week she was able to properly celebrate and honor them at BHSD’s intern appreciation event. We are heartbroken that this is the last month of their time with us but grateful for all that we have learned and shared with them. We also wish them a huge congrats on graduation!!! ❤️🧑🏽‍🎓
