Polymarket just lost -$3M, and its smart contracts were never hacked. This was a client-side supply-chain attack: a compromised third-party vendor injected a wallet-drainer script into the real Polymarket frontend, and users approved transactions that quietly handed over their funds.
No fake URL. No sketchy link. The malicious code ran on the legitimate site, which is exactly why WAFs, CSP, and static scanners didn’t catch it. It’s the same class of attack that hits e-commerce checkouts and fintech logins every week (Magecart, formjacking, Ledger connect-kit, polyfill.io).

There is something really backwards about threat intel feeds.

On one hand we want everyone to collaborate on findings to keep the web safe. However in reality it’s like a high school group project where half of the teams isn’t doing any work but still claiming the credit.

And those companies are using the intelligence we post to compete with us.

A sad truth is that sharing rapid high quality threat intelligence is actually very bad for business. And buyers often don’t know whether they buy a product that actively looks for malicious behaviors or just a tool that compares a domain name to a list of bad domains sourced for free from threat feeds - companies lie about the all the time.

Anyway be on the lookout for security solutions that actually put in the effort and detect threats more quickly.

The best way to do that is to try them out, put a malicious test file on a new domain somewhere, add a console log so the hash of the file is different and see if they catch it.
