It took well over 4 months, but I finally got possession of my grandmother's ashes from Tulocay Cemetery in Napa. My aunt finally relented after being reminded that her lack of action in picking up the ashes now marks them as legally being abandoned by the State of California. This closes the chapter in dealing with my grandmother's passing and permanently never having to deal with my aunt, or her daughter, ever again; they are not family to me anymore after all the bullshit they both pulled.

So now what?

I now have my parent's ashes and my grandmother's ashes sitting in my closet. I think late next Spring, I will notify the family amd family friends to meet me in Downieville to release them in the forest where we released my grandfather's ashes back in 1995. And then everything will be officially done.

P.S. The painting in the background was done by @helisnapa for my grandmother and I made sure I kept it after closing out my grandmother's apartment when she passed. It's a beautiful reminder of her. by @csmingus

FUCKING @instagram!!! I wrote a big description then went to add it to Facebook and Instagram erased what I wrote. So fucking over how bad these two platforms have gotten.

What I said...

This is the face of #exhaustion. This is the face of #wornout. This is the face of repeatedly trying and failing while being told my business knowledge is strong by other marketing executives. This is the face of #worry as rent gets further behind, as the car gets closer to repossession, and food stamps last less and less each month. This is the face people see during interviews amd makes me wonder if it's why I get rejected. I look late 60s yet I feel early 30s. There isn't enough face tape and bungee cords to make it better at the moment. This is what single and long-term unemployed looks like. And it fucking sucks. by @csmingus

I am more shocked that 25 years have passed already than that September 11th is here again on the calendar.
25 years ago today, I saw a movie at Clearview Chelsea Cinemas on 23rd near 8th Avenue with my then friend Brian. I vividly remember walking to the Uptown 1 train at 23rd Street & 7th and watching a blind man walk very briskly towards the subway stairs. I ran up to him and wrapped my arms around his waist right as he was about to step onto nothing because he didn't realize the stairway was in front of him. I quickly explained to the man what was about to happen, and he said he was trying to get back to the blind apartments on 23rd between 6th & 7th. Brian and I walked him to the corner, and he said he could get to the apartments from there and thanked us for saving him from definite injuries.

Now, as we turned toward the subway station, I stopped and looked south on 7th Avenue at the Twin Towers. And I vividly remember telling Brian, "Something feels off". Those memories have been burned so deep into my mind because of what took place 12 hours later.

The next morning was literal chaos in the worst way. Besides trying to remotely close down the office at 5th & 16th after the announcement went out that all subways and PATH trains would be shut down shortly, to getting all employees out of the office while calling the executives to let them know what I was doing, to calling my family on the West Coast to let them know I was OK, to calling my friend to check in on his mother since she worked in the Pentagon, it was a whirlwind of chaos for hours to come. And then came those who were in the Twin Towers area, covered head to toe in debris dust, walking north on Broadway to the George Washington Bridge since that was the only way in or out of Manhattan. They were dressed in their Wall Street business attire and looked emotionless yet determined to get out of Manhattan and to home. by @csmingus

Tomorrow morning I have one of the biggest interviews of my life. It is a minimum of three hours and meeting with five people to convince them that I am the person for the marketing position with the company. This is the third interview as I have already very much impressed the frist two people.

This is my Wonder Twins moment where I need ALL of the Bwana Make Juju support because I fucking need this job to end the jobless streak from the past 1,328 days of full-time employment. I have gone through a lot of "nos" and I just need this one "yes".

So whatever magic kajagoo you do to generate good luck, please send it full-force way tomorrow morning start at 9am PST. #thankyou by @csmingus

I cleaned out my grandmother's recipe box. It is a wooden box that has been around for as long as I can remember and it is packed with typed and handwritten 3x5 cards and notes, plus cut out newspaper and magazine clippings for all types of recipes.

Packed inside the box was a drink mix for Hawaiian Punch. A cake mix for Microwave Chex Parry Mix and a packet of seasoning for Chex Party Mix. They are VERY expired!

These items are deep nostalgia for me since they come from a time when it was common to make a pitcher of Hawaiian Punch, most likely in your Tupperware Pitcher, or a big bowl of Chex Party, in that big yellow Tupperware bowl, for a holiday gathering. It's the little things that remind me that I am aging farther and farther away, yes I know it should be further so save it, from an age that was much easier and sometimes happier. by @csmingus
