"Food is a pathway to freedom." ๐ŸŒฑ

We are immensely proud of CST alum Rev. Eddie Anderson, whose visionary community leadership was recently featured in the Los Angeles Times!

Through the Freedom Farms Collective, Rev. Anderson is bridging faith, food justice, and economic empowerment across Los Angeles. Rooted in a rich legacy of Black food activism, the collectiveโ€™s innovative "seed-to-shelf" model connects local farmers, chefs, and communitiesโ€”nourishing neighborhoods while building sustainable economic equity.

Rev. Andersonโ€™s work with Freedom Farms Collective and McCarty Memorial Christian Church is a powerful example of what happens when prophetic witness meets hands-on community transformation.

Claremont School of Theology (CST), in collaboration with the Center for Process Studies (CPS), today announced the launch of Claremont International University (CIU), a new educational initiative bringing a distinctive process-relational and globally engaged approach to graduate education.

CIU will launch with a Master of Arts in Education designed for educators and educational leaders seeking new approaches to teaching and learning in a world marked by accelerating change and deepening interdependence. Grounded in process-relational thought and a whole-person approach to education, the program places particular emphasis on the role of education in contributing to the emergence of an ecological civilizationโ€”one committed to human and planetary flourishing. Applications are now open for the inaugural Spring 2027 cohort.

We honor the life, faith, and legacy of Claremont School of Theology alum Rev. Dr. Mary L. Walton (1942โ€“2026).

After earning her Master of Divinity at CST, Rev. Dr. Walton put faith into action, spending nearly five decades as the founding Executive Director and visionary behind Interval House Crisis Shelters. She dedicated her life to ensuring safety, dignity, and healing for survivors of domestic violence across Southern California and beyond.

Rev. Dr. Walton pioneered the first domestic violence curriculum created specifically for the African American community; founded the Interval House African American Network for Violence Free Relationshipsโ€”a coalition of 200+ advocates, faith leaders, and survivorsโ€”alongside the Interfaith Creating A Safe Environment Project; and was appointed to the California Governorโ€™s Domestic Violence Advisory Council and recognized with the U.S. Presidential Service Award and NAACP Lifetime Achievement Award.

Rev. Dr. Waltonโ€™s journey from CST scholar to globally respected leader serves as a powerful testament to how theology, justice, and compassionate service can transform communities. Her vision continues to protect and empower countless lives.

To honor her memory and support her enduring mission, contributions can be made to the Mary Walton Memorial Fund: intervalhouse.org/mary

@cst_news I am thrilled to share the news that I will be starting Claremont Theology School in the Spring of next year.

My work as an Ifa practitioner has been the central life line for the last 20 years of my life. I studied religion in undergrad and always wanted to continue my education in Religion, but my path took me in a different direction.

As I am an elder in training, this next phase of my education will assist me in developing my practice as an offering to community. My plan is to strengthen my own Ifa work, support my Ifa elders, and build a community of interfaith leaders to support the times we are in. Through this fellowship Iโ€™ll be able to study Yoruba, study the odu Ifa, create more sacred objects and build on the scholarship that African Traditional Religions are a huge part of repairing Black folks relationship to ourselves and each other.

I canโ€™t wait to bring you all on this journey with me!
