Why does a woman in Atlanta also root for the Bay Area?
I’m living the best of both sides East and West. I’ll root for the Atlanta Dream, Bay Area will forever be in my heart. I’m a Cali girl from Los Angeles (West Side in my Ice Cube voice). Game 3 tonight. Story #offpathonpurpose #dotheunexpected #careerpivot #blackwomenwriters . by @cstrick9

Live tonight, 7pm EDT, with Harriette Richard, PhD. Body image, breast cancer, healing, post traumatic growth, and where career clarity picks up after.

Technology chose violence last night, 🙃

We hit a platform snag that kept me from joining as cohost. Harriette held the room solo and answered your questions, prep and mic checks be damned.

Rescheduling soon, details to come.

I used to let stuff like this wreck me. Last night I got to share a laugh with a friend on the crazy we’d just endured.
That’s the whole lesson. Move onward. by @cstrick9

Two years ago breast cancer stopped me from being able to ignore my body anymore. These pins didn’t come with the diagnosis, they came after, from women who decided this chapter wasn’t going to define the whole story.

Tuesday, September 15, 7pm EST, I’m live with Harriette Richard, PhD, on what comes after the interruption, body image, healing, post traumatic growth, and how that connects to your next pivot.

@forthebreastofus, that’s where we met.

You know the fork in the road. The quiet one. Where you keep functioning and nobody would guess you’re already doing the math.
This week I wrote about ‘Sweat the Small Stuff’, naming the pattern. Today, ‘Know Your Place’ walks it into the actual decision, forward, stay, or lose yourself by staying still.

Your place was never assigned to you. It’s wherever you land once you decide to own it.

This weekend I know mine. Atlanta Black Pride turns twenty, and I’ll be celebrating loud in the middle of a fight that’s still asking this community to prove it deserves basic care and civility.
Both are allowed to be true at once.

The mentor table is always open. by @cstrick9

FORE
I have learned to love golf. I don’t play it well but I enjoy everything about it, community, exercise, strategy and skill.
But the game wasn’t made for me, and I’m reminded almost every time I play, from the courses that banned Black folk, let alone women, from playing, to the marshals who always police the pace of play for women when we’re usually waiting behind a foursome of men whose play is no better than ours.

But I still go to play, we still show up, and what do we get in return. More hate. You’ve seen the ad.

So here I am, to help you do the work. And I’m better at it than you are, clearly. I’m a DEI consultant, educated in sports management, and a woman who plays golf, or as I like to say, swings clubs, often the only Black woman on the course (indoors & outdoors).

So I know both sides of this. The culture that lets an idea like that survive every review meeting between concept and camera is one I’ve sat inside. I’ve watched good ideas die and bad ones sail through because nobody in the room had standing to say stop.

This apology runs hollow when in the next breath the club (driver) is still for sale.
@callawaygolf , if you want to do the work to learn from this and implement changes, I’m available.

For me or anyone else to tell you that you are so much more than your career sounds cute.

It doesn’t hit the same when you are unemployed.

Role is the title. Self is what’s underneath it.

Role is the first thing to go when a company restructures.
Self doesn’t get laid off.

Start with 5 minutes. Write down 3 things people came to you for that had nothing to do with your title.
That’s your list. That’s what walks into the next room with you.

I admit I watched Pootie Tang this morning. But will all the stars from the actors, to the comedians, to the rappers/singers own their role in this cult classic?

The Strategic Exit roadmap doesn’t remove the career pivot Weight.
It means the Weight isn’t the only motivator anymore.

The Floor (the salary you deserve) gave you the number. The Narrative Script (Factual Story, Bridge-your contribution, and Forward-what you want next) gave you the words.

The Strategic Exit map gives you the direction, Weight and Pull, then where to move, then when.

Step one is free on Substack now.
Steps two and three unlock for paid subscribers.

The Pivot Pathway is a loop, not a staircase.

Becoming isn’t an arrival. It’s a return with more of yourself intact.

No two pivots walk the same way out.

Swipe through all four, then meet the Narrative Script, the three-line tool for the day someone asks why you left.

Full script is live now on Substack.

The Overeducation Tax has six columns.

You have been counting one.

The other five are the tuition your peers were reimbursed for. The meetings where the room heard the same idea louder from someone else’s mouth. The credentials with a subscription. The seats you were qualified for and did not get. The interest compounding while you were running on it.

The room was not calibrated for you. It was calibrated against you. That is not misfortune. That is design.

Full six-column calculator, four strategic applications, and my thirty-year receipt are at the mentor table.
