Congratulations to Castle Rock native Lilly Lucas on being named one of only four National 4-H Youth in Action winners nationwide by @National4H earlier this month! Lilly has been a Douglas County 4-H member for six years. She found her confidence through 4-H archery, and now she advocates for students with learning differences by helping teachers, families and students better understand dyslexia. She’ll spend the year sharing her story and representing Colorado 4-H on a national stage.

A few weeks ago, we stopped by the Oval to say hello to the 20 newly elected @ColoFFA and @Colorado4H state officers, including Lilly, who spent a day at CSU. They joined the fun at @CSUAgSci’s Ag Fest, had a picnic lunch and spent the afternoon with faculty in the fields they are considering, from range management to creative writing to environmental law.

Thank you to these outstanding young leaders for everything you do for 4-H and FFA across Colorado. We hope you enjoyed your visit and would love to see you back on campus as Rams someday! 150 tables continue to be set across the state of Colorado - as we celebrate the real reason a state is great: it’s people and cities who eat, work and live life to the full together!

This past Monday, 300 humans ate tacos and spaghetti together at long tables extending down the center of their historic Gold-rush town, with food provided by restaurants, music by a local band and an invitation by the City to linger and enjoy meeting new neighbors.

The event sold out and the City of Salida anticipates setting the long table every year to celebrate the end of Summer.

🔔 Ringing in Tradition 🔔

We were proud to welcome Fort Collins natives and lifelong Rams CJ and Nancy Mucklow as Saturday’s Ag Day Old Main Bell ringers!

CJ and Nancy have built a family legacy deeply connected to CSU. CJ earned degrees in animal science and agriculture before beginning a 37-and-a-half-year career with CSU Extension, serving communities across Colorado and ultimately helping lead Extension’s statewide field operations.

Nancy earned her degree in textiles and clothing in 1986 and carried her CSU roots into a career that included launching Routt County Woolens, a value-added agriculture venture using Colorado wool.

Their Ram legacy spans generations, from Nancy’s mother, Jan, to their sons, Andy and David, who also attended CSU.

Thank you, CJ and Nancy, for ringing in tradition on Ag Day and for making us Ram Proud! 🐏🧡 by @csuextension

Ag Week calls for a little Head, Heart, Hands and Health. On this week’s episode of The Next 150 podcast, @CSUAgSci agricultural education junior and lifelong 4-H’er Ryer Roberts and I had the opportunity to talk with Jill Bramble, President and CEO of @National4H Council, the nation’s largest youth development organization. A fourth-generation 4-H’er from rural Maryland, Jill has spent more than 18 years with the organization, starting as a grant writer before being named CEO and President in 2023.

Jill, Ryer and I all grew up in 4-H, so we know its impact firsthand. In this episode, we trace that impact from its land-grant roots to Beyond Ready, Jill’s initiative to prepare 10 million young people for work, leadership and life by 2030. We dig into the role CSU and @CSUExtension play in @Colorado4H. We also hear how 4-H is integral to Ryer’s leadership journey, from showing a bucket calf named Daisy in Fruita, CO, to now serving as Speaker of the Senate in our student government @ASCSU.

Jill, thank you for making the time to visit us in Fort Collins and for the lasting work you’re leading nationwide to invest in our youth. And Ryer, thank you for showing us what 4-H leadership looks like across our campus and beyond.

Go Aggies!
