‘i’ll go, but not far’ on view at @hakehouse this week as a part of the group exhibition ‘playground’ curated by @elizafugar

in the photo, the chain holds its shape. in the video you can see it move, shift, pull, twist, but it never really comes apart. there’s always a limit to how far it goes. ‘i’ll go, but not far’ is that tension, played out both physically and as an idea.. how for can something drift before it’s pulled back to where it started? by @ctlnk

my work ‘what holds, holds back’ is showing at @hake.house 12-26th september.
playground- curated by @elizafugar

stoneware, pink stain, mild steel

this work examines how protection and limitation can exist within the same structure. how support, by its nature, restrains. made from clay rather than metal, each link depends on those beside it, reflecting the inseparability of holding and holding back. it protects you, and at the same time limits what you can do.

PLAYGROUND | OPENING THIS SATURDAY

HAKE HOUSE is proud to present Playground, a group exhibition curated by guest curator Eliza Fugar.

Bringing together 17 artists across an array of disciplines, Playground considers the gallery as a space for curiosity, movement, discovery and play. Drawing from Isamu Noguchi’s vision of the playground as an open field for exploration, the exhibition invites us to move through the space intuitively, with each work offering a new point of departure.

We’re so excited to bring this considered group of artists together and to welcome you into the gallery this Saturday.

Opening Day
Saturday 12 September
3–6pm

On view: 12–26 September
HAKE House of Art
275 Harbord Road, Dee Why

Curated by Eliza Fugar
Presented by HAKE HOUSE

For a catalogue please email hello@hake.house / link in our bio for further information.
