1. North American Cup, Edmonton 🇨🇦
2. Youth World Championships, Arco 🇮🇹
3. Pan-American Championships, Salt Lake City 🇺🇸

I received three opportunities this summer to climb on routes that push me. Honestly, performance-wise, none of the competitions are what I’d call a success, and they weren’t really that close. But, I’ve learned a lot about myself and have a lot of positive takeaways. The results are appropriate and reflect my ability to perform under pressure against National, Youth World, and Olympic medalists. I thoroughly enjoyed myself throughout all experiences this summer (even drinking the condiments because of some slightly irresponsible odds) and already feel excited for future competitions (in my last year of youth 😢).

Thank you to the Youth Worlds Coaches for teaching me about connection (shoutout Bob) and joy. Thank you especially to my coach Keith. You support me, educate me, and motivate me every day. I really appreciate your drive to become a more knowledgeable coach, and your passion with passing your learnings to me.

Thank you to all the great people I met and spent time with this summer. There were tons of memorable moments.

Hopefully I’ll have some time to get on real rock during the remaining warm months. The nice thing about Squamish is, unlike the fleeting nature of competition routes, it never leaves (Unless you happen to be portable).

Youth Provincials ‘26

Thank you setters. You made this provincials an absolute blast. From qualifier 1 to finals, every box got ticked—interest, challenge, fun, excitement, crowd-pleasing… the list goes on. Climbing is only so attractive with caring setters.

Climbing is a sport of solitude and connection. Despite being alone on the wall, the support I receive from competitors/friends makes me feel part of a unique community that truly feels joy with me. I’m pretty sure Max’s “LOCK IN FIGHT NOAH” gave me at least one more move 🤪

Comp season is packed once again, see you at NACS :)

Special thanks to @dietz_shots, @bruce.sk, and @jack.vanderheide for the amazing photos!

Open Nationals ‘26 😵‍💫

lead p9
boulder p36

i think it’s become a bit of a trend to have posts with mixed emotions…

lead semis was a roller coaster. thinking i made finals, getting appealed out, feeling the rush of adrenaline and losing it just as fast as it arrived… but my semis route was one of my proudest comp routes ever. i came down from the route and immediately went over to my coaches saying “whatever happens i am so so so happy with that”. and i am.

i loved the entire experience, and cannot wait for more. it was a super joyful time to meet with friends i hadn’t seen in a long while. sharing beta, getting confused in iso, forgetting some holds, and ending with a “just wing it” 😉

capping this post off like youth nats, thanks yall for the hugs of happiness and sympathy after the round😇

thanks @maddimulla for the first photo!

日本 🇯🇵🧘

thanks for the trip @linclimbs, @connor_ohu, @boyer_brothers, @banlurogaway. yall made it special :) also nice to meet you @mildlyderangedspidermonkey

thank you to the tokyo team for welcoming us to your practice; it was inspiring, satisfying, and maybe a little bit intimidating 🤪. also special thanks to @nozomi__mizushima for translating and for the great time :)

all of the gyms i visited were packed with thoughtful boulders, and it was eye-opening to see the density of cryptic, intense, and consistent movement (they DEFINITELY have heard of the ric scale yall they know what’s up 😝).

ending off the trip on a sprained ankle at pump 2 was not the finale i’d wanted, and @banlurogaway being my crutch as i hobble back to my hotel was not on the 2026 bingo card, but im extremely glad to have spent time with friends i don’t get to see so often.

and since this is about all i learned when getting onigiri from the 7/11, ありがとう ございます, Japan. hope to see you soon cheeky advert cat.

USA Nationals ‘25

lead p12
boulder p8

Definitely not my best performance, but also not my worst. Felt quite weak in lead, and being one spot out of finals never feels good; however, with the relatively long and steady deload into an abrupt demanding performance, I can’t read too much into it. The timing of this competition wasn’t ideal, and I can’t say it wasn’t expected to have a subpar strength output with Canadian Nationals just a month prior. It sounds like a lot of complaining, but it was still a great time 😉

Making boulder finals was a pleasant surprise; although, placing higher in America than Canada in a noticeably stronger field feels bittersweet. But what the I literally only did the boulders with dynos are we being fr…

Anyhow, I’m going to pour my attention into mobility with @nattyhsu 😠 (as it’s all I can currently do during my rest week).

Congratulations to @roseinnesbenjamin, @boyer_brothers, @ev.orton, @venga_km_venga, @lucy.climbss, @spideychar, and @banlurogaway for your podium placements/worlds qualifications! (hopefully I didn’t forget anyone) As well as @bex.ballow77 for a crazy pr to make speed finals 😅.

I am psyched to finally be in open, and can’t wait for the competition season to start up again!!

Thank you @sender.pics and USA Climbing for the photos!

Youth Nationals ‘25

I’m not going to lie and say I’m content with the outcome. And I’m not going to pretend that the lessons I’ve learned soften the blow. It’s honestly really hard for me to handle this, but I am in control of my response this time. Anyways, here’s story time :)

This year, I put a lot of weight on climbing. I hit a number of process goals throughout the year (and missed plenty too), but this competition still stings a lot. Right now, I can’t shift my focus away from the outcome, especially when it determines my placement on the national team.

My process goals, the things I centered my whole season around, didn’t get me to my outcome goal. But maybe I’m missing the purpose. The process isn’t a means to an end but the point of it all in the first place. The tryhard spray wall sessions and lead with @climbing_animals__avery, the off-wall training, the everlasting slab working days, and all the mayhem in the middle is what I want to remember.

Anyways, I’ll get back to training, and give it everything at USAC Nationals in a couple of weeks. Im proud of this season, and the open season awaits (so watch out 😉)

Thank you to @clairepolasubb and @ks.worden for the photos!

Thanks to y’all who came to find and comfort me when I was bawling my eyes out at the climbing wall. :) Couldn’t ask for a greater community within sport 🫶.

Congratulations and good luck to all of Team Canada travelling to Helsinki!

@evanclimbs22 and @dylan_talacko have the cutest smiles

I would say it’s time to enjoy the summer, but let’s be honest, that really just means more climbing 😆 by @cubeclimber_

I don’t know how to write about Nationals just yet, as I’m still processing it myself. Being off the national team this year sucks. Dry-firing sucks. But c’est la vie, I guess.

I know that I’ve improved, so I’m going to share some successes from the process over this past year. (I’ll make a real nats post later)

1: I started training without a team, so I was able to focus more on my individual goals. And I was able to find an amazing training partner over the past month and a bit. Thank you @climbing_animals__avery!

2: I put more focus into my lead climbing this year, and have improved my confidence, tactics, and efficiency massively.

3. I was also able to train hard in bouldering, improving throughout the season. Thanks @zoe.beau for your help!

4: I competed in Europe, and made finals!

5: I am almost done with a full season in the USA, and have nationals coming up.

6: I went outdoor climbing in Squamish, and skipped from V5-V10. Thanks @connor_ohu and @linclimbs.

7: I made major strength gains, and increased my weighted pullup to 53kg for 5 reps. Thanks to @coach.chris.spencer for all of your help with the strength and conditioning side of things.

8: I was consistent with tracking my stats, and found improvement in the numbers.

Thank you to Keith for all your help with scheduling, coaching, and keeping me accountable :)

Thanks to Emma, Fero, and all the other Oval coaches for being amazing supporters.

Thanks to my parents for bringing me along the crazy journey. So much more to come 😌

I’ve been able to find many successes this year, and the improvement will continue to pile on. Progress doesn’t come from one performance on the “big day”, but grit, learning, and wanting more every day.

I thank everyone for their support this season, and I promise I’ll come back stronger.

More sophisticated thoughts and thanks later :)

Europe ‘25

Fun climbing, lots of learning 🧘‍♂️ Studio Bloc Masters was a really tough round, and @delftsbleau International Youth Open had plenty of try hard. Happy to have made finals, despite it being one of the less kind rounds for me.

One more competition down south before the real power endurance begins…

Thank you for the photos @pho.metheus, and @ashwin_callahan
