Working with Work

-

We love work. We hate work. We love when work is working. Depending on the day of the week, work can be sweet, slow or bad. But we continue to work for 3 things;

The check
The family
The vacation days

Chanel’s Graduation (shot by me)

Crazy how time flies. I remember walking down the orange line with you in Canoga Park so we can get some fresh air. I remember you were trying to watch Anastasia on tv then out of nowhere Brother Bear came on in the middle and you got so upset. I remember trying to have you focus on homework but we would stop for a minute to laugh at something ridiculous.

Thank you for being my little partner, little actor, little counselor when you would noticed I was having an off day. Keep growing, keep shining, keep laughing, keep smiling. Continue to be the best niece in the world.

Thank you @love.livesinsf for screening “One For Father” last night! It was so amazing being there and watching everyone’s art on the big screen. PLUS my film walked away with the “Best Non-Fiction” award! I can’t say thank you enough honestly.

Six months of fun, traveling, searching, and being with Alexis. Six months of movies, trying new food, getting lost for x amount of hours, and happiness with alexis. From oakland, to philly, to new york, and back with Alexis.

Life has been so much easier and so much more enjoyable with you. I wake up everyday with you on my mind and you make me stronger mentally and physically (I swear when i work out i got you in my head and i can lift a truck).

My number one forever and always. I love you. Happy anniversary!!!

“ONE FOR FATHER”
Directed by Marques Bankhead
Starring James Bankhead

OUT NOW

For the past few years, my focus on film has been to put out fun and interesting art. Some that makes sense, some that makes you say “why?…” In the beginning, my focus has always been to be authentic and honest as much as possible. From documentary style to something with a narrative, be real, be authentic, be honest. This film, “One For Father”, brought that light back to me cause not only am I filming my dad, I’m filming one of my heroes.

Thank you to the International Independent Film Festival and the Films That Move Film Festival for showing love last year.

Thank you to the friends, family, and the loved ones who were there around the time this was happening. You have no idea how much I needed y’all.

“James Bankhead is a simple man. He wakes up, drinks his coffee, see if anything in the house needs fixing, crack jokes, and loves his family. Even in the excruciating heat of Arizona, it doesn’t stop him doing what he loves to do the most”

Back in 2025, I took a trip to Arizona to see my family and brought the camera with me (my mom was visiting LA at the time). I had this idea to show my dad off with his chains and nice cars for a fun, short but sweet video but half way from Oakland to Arizona, we decided to make a whole thing about him and his day. by @cubeclutch
