CAP STUDENTS! Registration is open for the Vision 2127: The Future By Design student competition! As part of our Centennial Celebration, honoring 100 years of built environment education in Colorado, we are proud to announce an interdisciplinary student competition that looks ahead to the challenges and opportunities the next 100 years will bring for the built environment. Visit our link in bio for full competition details! Winning teams will receive cash prizes! Grand Prize - $5,000 First Runner Up - $4,000 Second Runner Up - $3,000 People's Choice - $2,000 Important Dates: September 11: Optional Rapid Roundtable networking to find a team September 30: Each team submits one competition registration form September – December: Students work in consultation with mentor January 15: Workshop with charrette and feedback March 1: Final competition submissions due March 1 - 7: Teams install entries in the second floor gallery March 8 – April 30: Showcase of competition entries March 17: Winners announced at the Vision 2127: The Future by Design Colloquium! Scenes from the Common Ground Community Design Project reception on the first day of Doors Open Denver 2026. This collaborative project brought together dozens of stakeholders from multiple organizations for a community-focused endeavor that we’re proud of. Architecture students at the CU Denver College of Architecture and Planning studying with Assistant Professor Leyuan Li were paired with local community organizations to design and build custom outdoor installations for five different Colorado nonprofits. These constructions celebrate the power of design to create a Denver where everyone belongs. Happy World Architecture Day! Did you know the University of Colorado has been providing built environment education for almost 100 years? While there are many projects to celebrate, one recent achievement is the completion of the Vonnegut Cabins. CU Denver students used existing materials to reimagine six historic cabins in Thoreau, New Mexico. The project is part of the ColoradoBuildingWorkshop, the Department of Architecture’s design build certificate program. We’ll debut all five structures this Thursday, on Day One of Doors Open Denver, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Denver Performing Arts Complex.
