Good Morning Vinyl Fam and Friends! ☺️

Yacht Rock post yesterday so today, I'm doing a 180 (no pun intended 😉) and getting into some classic rock!

Here we have spinning the debut self titled album from American Rock musician "Ted Nugent" . Album released 1975 by Epic Records. Also a shout-out to @oddspot_ for hooking me up with this one!

The Nuge, Uncle Ted, Motor City Madman. This guy sure has a lot of nicknames for an extremely polarizing figure. And he sure had beefs with many musicians over the years. David Crosby hated him, Joan Jett hated him, Bad Company hated him - just to name a few and honestly I can't blame them based on circumstances. But.....I'm here for the music & only the music. If ya want politics, go to CNN! 😂

Speaking of music, spinning here is my favourite song from the album "Stranglehold". Originally this track had started out as a mess around jam session within the band but after adding some lyrics, they wanted it on the album. Epic initially pushed back on it since the song didn't have a chorus, but as we all know Ted got his way & oddly enough it turned into a signature song of his.

Whenever I listen to this song, I immediately think I'm about to get busted for something. This song plays in the background of "dazed and confused" when the kids are hanging out in Pickfords room and the parents catch him red handed with a keg delivery for a party that night. Love that movie!

Fun fact: Other than "sometimes you wanna get higher" Ted does no lyrics. Rather, guitarist Derek St. Holmes of the band was the main vocalist.

Happy Listening Everyone! ✌️❤️📀

Good Evening Vinyl Fam and Friends! ☺️

Well it being post Halloween and after lots of candy being consumed (plus, a lazy Sunday with a time change to boot!) I think slowing it down today makes sense.

Here we have spinning the greatest hits album from the American soft rock group "Firefall" . Album released 1981.

Not the most popular soft rock band out there but with great hits like "Your Are The Woman" "Strange Ways" "Cinderella" , and of course, "Just Remember I Love You" (currently spinning), you're bound to hear their tracks on any given Yacht Rock genre station - I guarantee it!

Music like this just makes me want to put my feet up, hands behind the head, close my eyes, and drift away to these soothing mellow sounds - until I hear my kids screaming about wanting to eat more candy 😭😂

Happy Listening Everyone! ✌️❤️📀

Happy Halloween! I hope it's a spooktacular day and if you're a parent, may you be able to sneak a little candy stash for yourself when the kids go to bed tonight 😂

Spin break today since it's all about the kids on this day.

That said, here's my one son's costume! He digs the old school rap. RUN DMC is his favourite but when I saw him come downstairs in his costume I'm like "maaaaaan you supa fly. You Bad!!" And then as soon as I said you bad and looking at that kangol style hat, I knew the song right away!! Even though it's from his very early days in the game, still my favourite of LL's. Yes yes Mama said knock you out is great too but for me I'm Bad gets the W!

Happy Listening (and trick or treating) Everyone! ✌️❤️📀

Happy Friday!

Here we have the.....THE......album that truly made grunge, grunge! The legendary album "Ten" by Pearl Jam. Album released 1991 through Epic Records. Mine here is the double vinyl special edition. And it's not lost on me that this is an album that should be in the Mt Rushmore of Grunge. PS - this is all coming from a Soundgarden fan at heart so you know I'm not biased!! 😂

The tracks, all iconic. "Even Flow" "Jeremy" "Black" "Once" and of course "Alive"

Only one thing I need to say about Pearl Jam and I think it says it all. Saw PJ in concert years ago in Hamilton and all I can say is, Eddie Vedder is the best frontman I have ever seen live. I know the Boss is considered by most the best but......I saw this man go all the way up to the nosebleeds (singing the whole time mind you), chug a bottle of wine, and kept going he didn't miss a beat (for another couple hours mind you) and he was in his 40s at the time. If I chugged a bottle of wine now as a man in my 40s, I'd be singing "I'm still not alive!!" while I nurse a week long hangover 😂

Happy Listening Everyone! ✌️❤️📀

Well I had Motown on the mind lately and although there are countless choices to choose from in terms of incredible albums that came out of Motown, Yes, this was the one I was looking for! 😁

Here spinning is the 2nd studio album from Lionel Ritchie, "Cant Slow Down". Album released by Motown Records in 1983.

So many amazing stats behind this album. 5 singles to hit the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 & Two singles to hit number 1. "All Night Long" and of course, "Hello" . 20 Million copies sold worldwide making it his best selling album! And, Grammy for Album of the year in 1985. Think that covers it for now!

Although Lionel was known for funk as a member of the Commodores, he truly solidified his name as a dance-pop artist with this one.

So whatever you spin tonight, enjoy it, all night long!! 😂

Happy Listening Everyone! ✌️❤️📀

This pull from last night sure doesn't disappoint and if for some crazy reason it does, all apologies 😁

Here we have the first live album from the ever so popular 90s grunge band "Nirvana". Album "MTV Unplugged in New York" . Recorded at Sony Music Studios in Hell's Kitchen Manhatten in November 1993. Released November 1 1994. Approximately 7 months after the suicide of Kurt Cobain.

Nirvana sure picked some great tracks for this live recording. "Polly" "Dumb" "About a Girl" "Come as you Are" , and of course this famous cover of Bowie's "The Man who Sold The World" which is easily in my top 10 best covers of all time.

Debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and sold app. 310,000 copies. The highest first-week sales of Nirvana's career. By March 1995, it had outsold In Utero with 6.8 million copies sold! Just a wild stat to me. A grunge band with an amazing grunge album, was outsold by the same grunge band with some same songs, in acoustic play. Can't make this stuff up!! 😂

Bowie even said he thought Nirvana's version was a "good straight forward rendition" and " sounded very honest" Bowie also expressed his upset that he never got a chance to collaborate with them due to Kurt's passing.

So in a tech driven world where we need to constantly remind ourselves to "unplug". Get "unplugged" and have a slow burn with this one!

Happy Listening Everyone! ✌️❤️📀

For today's post, I dug into my photo archives and came across this post from 2022 when I was in Quebec for a work trade show. The music gods were sure looking down that day because next to my hotel, was a record store! Actually soon enough I am going to give them a shout out post with photos because it was a great store!!

And clearly, I walked away very happy with this lineup! (Even though I splurged a bit 😂)

But between my song choice and what you can see, there is a clear 1st place champion and it goes to The Who's "Tommy". The fourth studio album by the band. Released 1969.

My mom was a big theatre fan so as a kid I saw a TON of plays. But the one that captivated me the most and had me in awe was Tommy. Especially when they did the scene for Pinball Wizard. Very cool!! And "See me Feel me" great song with great tempo changes throughout!

And I was ever so lucky to get a pressing that was half speed mastered at the one and only @abbeyroadstudios . LOVE this certificate and yes I know I need to get it framed & on the wall like yesterday 😂

Happy Listening Everyone! ✌️❤️📀

Random pull tonight and I think it worked out great because sometimes after a long Monday all you need to do is, Dance!

The fifteenth studio album from the absolute icon, David Bowie ,"Let's Dance". Released in 1983. Track of course is the self titled single, "Let's Dance"

Ok, my captions are long enough as it is so I will keep it short (I promise 😂) plus David Bowie is such a legend I'd be here all night writing out his amazing musical accolades otherwise!

All there is to say is great tracks on this one like "Modern Love" , "China Girl" , & "Golden Years"

Fun facts: Before reaching big fame, Stevie Ray Vaughan did guitar on this album & it's the first album Bowie ever did where he was strictly a lyricist & played no instruments.

So go on, put on your red shoes and dance the blues!

Happy Listening Everyone! ✌️❤️📀

Well lately I've been sharing some grunge, some soft rock, some prog rock....let's get back on the hip hop train on this beauty Sunday Morning!

Here we have spinning the debut studio album "Licensed to ill" from "Boys Entering Anarchistic States Towards Inner Excellence, but you might know them better as "Beastie Boys". Album released 1986 under "Def Jam Records". Track spinning: Hold it Now, Hit It"

Now I chose this song because when it comes to Licensed to ill, it's one of of those few records where I prefer the B side to A side (just my opinion folks! 😂)

So many great songs on this album - especially for a debut album!! Paul Revere, Brass Monkey, No Sleep till Brooklyn, and Fight for Your Right (to party) funny only that song is on the A side 😉😂

Although Rick Rubin is ultimately the guy who got the BB signed, RUN-DMC also played a huge part in Licensed to ill. Not only did they bring the boys out on their 1986 "Raising Hell" tour, but also helped songwrite. Run did the opening lyrics to "Paul Revere" and as well gifted them the track "Slow and Low"

Fun fact: I watched a Beastie Boys documentary on prime not too long ago and Mike D even admitted when it came to Licensed to ill, they were kids they were goofballs, & no clue what they were doing. Mike D admitted he truly didn't feel like an artist till after Paul's Boutique was released. Pretty humble comment I'd say for such an iconic hip hop album!!

So remember, even on a Sunday, you gotta fight....for your right...... (You know the rest!!) 😂😉

Happy Listening Everyone!! ✌️❤️📀

Good Morning Vinyl Fam and Friends! 😊

I had a serious craving for some Meat Loaf! And no, not the same Meat Loaf craving Will Ferrell had in Wedding Crashers!! 😂

Here we have spinning the sixth studio album from Meat Loaf "Bat Out of Hell II - Back into Hell". Album Released 1993. with the ever so popular single "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)" this album is a follow up to the 1977 Album "Bat Out of Hell"

Whenever I listen to this song, I go right back to when I was a kid because the music video for this track was absolute 🔥🔥🔥. No wonder, it was directed by Michael Bay. And it was the first video that made me want to hop on a motorcycle and go FAST!! (Especially with that incredible intro!)

Meat Loaf is one of those guys that I think doesn't get enough credit. His voice to me is almost gospel like. Rock with bits of opera techniques used in his vocals. He was known to have what's called a Heldentenor voice - which essentially means having extraordinary range. One of those voices that is so uniquely his own and I never tire of hearing it even 30 something years later!!

Fun fact: Near the end of the track when that duet kicks in, it was sung by British rock & blues singer Lorraine Crosby. However in the music video, she did not make an appearance and her vocals are lip synched by Dana Patrick.

But even if you aren't a Meat Load fan, hopefully at a minimum I gave you an idea for dinner tonight?? 😂😉

Happy Listening Everyone! ✌️❤️📀

Well I know this one may feel a bit out of season with fall well underway, but the sun has been shining so why not!

Here we have "Bloody Tourists", the sixth studio album from the British rock band, 10cc. Album Released 1978. Track spinning "Dreadlock Holiday" in fact, their last number 1 hit!

I remember the first time I heard this song, I just couldn't believe it was a bunch of British guys singing and playing such awesome reggae pop! Super fun song and everytime I hear it I just want to be on a beach, pina colada in hand, and grooving to this track under the Caribbean sun!

Happy Listening Everyone! ✌️❤️📀

As of lately my algorithm on here, Alice in Chains has been popping up left right & centre! and just like a good algorithm, AIC got on the mind so that lead to one conclusion.....it was time to spin one of best grunge albums from the 90s ! (Pearl Jam heads don't get mad at me I know it's a hot take!) 😂

Here we have spinning the second studio album by Alice in Chains, "Dirt". Album released September 1992. It was the bands last recorded album with all the original AIC members since bassist, Mike Starr, was fired from the band in early 1993.

This album kind of reminds me of AC/DC's Back in Black. Dirt, like Back in Black, has so many amazing singles on here! "Would", "Them Bones" , "Angry Chair" , "Down in a Hole" , and spinning here is the other main single from the album, "Rooster" . My favourite and full disclosure, it's my pump up song before I go deer hunting every fall!

Another cool thing about this album, the bulk of the songs on Dirt were written by guitarist Jerry Cantrell. And like I mentioned above with the amount of amazing singles & tracks on this album, Jerry is sure owed his flowers from a songwriting stance!

Did you know: "Rooster" is a song dedicated to Jerry's dad, Jerry Cantrell Sr, who got the nickname Rooster as a kid from his dad due to his cocky attitude and hair that stuck up on his head, like a Rooster! Talk about a generational song!! 😂

Happy Listening Everyone! ✌️❤️📀
