An absolutely epic weekend @oxfordkilns joining forces with @culfordstudios and @clay_at_thefarnhampottery 🏺

Such joy to learn from @robin.a.wilson and @ceramica_ekta. Thank you for passing on your extensive and valuable knowledge about the ways of the flame. And to Alex and Denis for keeping everyone fed and hydrated.

For many of our members this was a new experience - physical without a doubt, but so powerful to see community collaborate and bond in this way working with natures elements. Some beautiful pots came out the other side too..

We all have the fire bug now and can’t wait to be back. 🔥 by @culfordstudios

We’re delighted to announce our next very special guest artist joining us at Culford Studios on Thursday 3rd of September: @kate_malone_ceramics one of the UK’s leading ceramic artists.

As many of you know, Culford Studios was formerly Kate’s house and studio. She and her husband Graham brought the space to life with so many fun and colourful details that still inspire the making of our CLAY community.

With an illustrious career spanning thirty years, Kate has developed an unmistakable and highly regarded style, evidenced by her hand-made pots and intricately ornamented sculptures. Observations of nature - particularly fruits, nuts and berries - are the overriding influence in her work, alongside a career spent pioneering glazing techniques through research and experimentation in the chemistry of glazing.

The sophistication of her glazes has led to collaborations with prominent architects and designers on public art projects in hospitals, schools, parks and libraries.

We can’t wait to hear all about her wonderful career, and the history and memories of Culford before it became CLAY.

As usual there will be a glass of wine and pizza. Please remember spaces are limited, so book your ticket now if you would like to join.

This Saturday is the opening of resident artist @zahedtajeddin “ANTIQUITA” exhibition at the @theatkinsonsouthport museum, bringing together an incredible collection of work.

“ANTIQUITA presents a compelling body of sculptural work by Zahed Taj-Eddin, a Syrian artist and archaeologist. Born in Aleppo, a city shaped by layered civilizations and recent rupture, Taj-Eddin creates works that feel at once unearthed and urgently contemporary. Through clay and bronze, he excavates
memory, myth, and collective trauma, forging objects that stand between relic and witness.”

13 June - 10 October 2026.
Mon - Sat. 10am - 4pm.
The Atkinson, Lord Street, Southport, PR8 1DB

Go visit!!!
