CultivaLA welcomed Lindsay Righter, Deputy Director, and Carrie Lewis from the California Climate Action Corps (CCAC), a national service program to our 6.5 acre community farm in South El Monte.

Thanks to state leaders @cagovernor, local Los Angeles County leaders @hildasolis and strategic partners @lacountyparks continue investing in supporting children’s health through locally grown food and food education that provides students with lifelong healthy habits to help them thrive.

Stay tune for how permanent funding to the Farm to School Program will continue to provide free, healthy meals for children and strengthen local economies through food worker training and supporting California farmers and producers. 🌱🥕♻️🪏 by @cultivala1

At Suburban Water, we’re proud to be more than a water utility—we’re a community partner.

Together with our community partners, we had the privilege of providing 250 fresh food bags to customers in the Sativa service area of the Compton-Willowbrook community. Initiatives like these reflect our commitment to building trust by delivering safe, reliable water while also helping connect our customers with valuable local resources.

Strong communities are built through partnership, compassion, and service. We’re honored to stand alongside our neighbors and community organizations to make a meaningful difference.

I was recently honored to announce a $348,540 investment in @cultivala1 to bring two new garden projects to Pellissier Village, one at the @plazadelarazacds – Little Star campus and another across the street next to El Mercado Market.

These projects will transform underused spaces into vibrant green gardens where children can learn, play, and connect with nature.

Proud to join tonight’s night market in @southelmontecitygov, where more than 1,000 residents came together to enjoy great food, local vendors, and a vibrant evening of community connection.

I was also able to support this effort by allocating $4,000 in partnership with @cultivala1 to distribute fresh produce and canned goods to families in attendance.

Migration has always been a part of life, whether you’re a butterfly, a whale, or a human being. But as the climate crisis accelerates, more and more people are being forced to leave their homes and even their countries in its wake. Wildfires and floods displace entire communities. Shifting ecosystems destabilize local economies. Dwindling resources fuel conflict and violence.

So how do we respond to this growing reality of climate-driven migration amid increasingly hostile anti-immigration rhetoric?

In this episode, we explore the deep connections between climate and migration, the sustainable practices immigrant communities have long championed, the often-overlooked environmental toll of ICE raids, and the critical role of community resilience in facing what comes next.
