When your audience doesn’t have clear information, they’re left to fill in the blanks.

Whether you’re announcing a community meeting, explaining a program change or sharing election information, anticipate the questions your audience will ask:

▪️ What does this mean for me?
▪️ Do I need to take action?
▪️ What’s the deadline?
▪️ Where can I verify this or get help?

If you don’t have all the answers yet, explain what you know, be honest about what you don’t know and be clear about when you’ll provide an update.

Good communication goes beyond making an announcement. Early, honest communication helps people understand, make decisions and take the next step.

Cultivating Visions | Every vision deserves a voice.

Community engagement starts before the announcement and continues after the meeting.

People want to understand what a project means for their neighborhood, their family or their daily lives. They also want to know their questions and concerns have been heard.

Cultivating Visions helps agencies connect with communities through thoughtful outreach, clear information and meaningful opportunities for feedback.

From stakeholder outreach and meeting communications to public education materials and project updates, CV brings experience in federal public health communication, nonprofit leadership and community service.

Our approach: Listen carefully. Communicate clearly. Follow through.

This week, I learned my water would be off for most of the day only after I asked the crew digging outside my home what was happening. During the work, a line was cut and we lost internet, too.

It was a reminder: service disruptions affect how your community works, plans and manages daily life. Communication deserves a place in the project plan.

For planned changes, give advance notice. When something unexpected happens, share what you know, what residents should do and when they can expect another update.

Cultivating Visions helps municipalities, utilities, waste service providers, housing authorities and their contracting partners keep communities informed through clear notices, project updates and public outreach.

Your team handles the work. CV helps communicate what it means for the community.

Honor the heritage. Respect the sovereignty.

This Native American Heritage Month, we celebrate Native peoples’ histories, living cultures, contributions and leadership.

Recognition also comes with responsibility. Tribal Nations are sovereign governments, each with its own leadership, priorities and voice.

As a CDC emergency responder, I learned that effective communication starts with respecting the people communities already trust.

During the Zika response in American Samoa, we needed village chiefs’ permission before speaking with the community. While its political and cultural context differs from Tribal Nations, that experience reinforced the importance of listening and respecting local leadership.

For communicators working with Tribal Nations:

• Respect sovereignty and communication protocols.
• Build trust before a crisis.
• Use each Nation’s correct name.
• Amplify Native voices with permission and credit.

At Cultivating Visions, we believe honoring a community includes respecting its right to tell its own story.

Listen. Learn. Amplify. This month and beyond.

More than a name 🏈

One of my favorite moments of Florida–Georgia weekend was meeting EJ Smith, son of Emmitt Smith.

I love mentoring college students, even long after they graduate. So it was a a privilege to have a quick chat with the son of a legend and hear him talk about carving his own path.

Carrying his father’s name comes with a lot of expectations, but EJ is clearly writing his own story. He played at @stanfordfball and @aggiefootball he signed with Kansas City @chiefs and is now working toward his next NFL opportunity as well as a graduate degree in real estate. Already preparing for life beyond the game.

While he honors his dad’s legacy, he’s also building his own.

Great talking with you, @therealejsmith Your parents raised you right! Can’t wait to see what’s next!

Once a Gator, always a Gator 🐊🧡💙

Congratulations to Emmitt Smith on his induction into the Florida–Georgia Hall of Fame! The NFL’s all-time leading rusher and 3x Super Bowl champion was back in the Orange & Blue spotlight in Atlanta, and he had the whole room laughing 😂

From Gainesville to Pittsburgh to the Hall of Fame 🐊🏆

Congratulations to Maurkice Pouncey on his induction into the Florida–Georgia Hall of Fame! National champion, Rimington Trophy winner, 9x Pro Bowl center, and still one of the best to ever do it in the trenches 🧡💙

THEY GAVE HIM THE WHISTLE.
WILL THEY GIVE HIM THE KEYS?

The coaching carousel is spinning, and Maryland is on the clock.

Aazaar Abdul-Rahim has 20+ years in coaching. He was on Nick Saban's staff when Alabama won the 2015 national title. As a high school head coach in D.C., he helped more than 100 players earn college scholarships. Now he's Maryland's interim head coach with five games left.

As a Gator, this one feels familiar.

In 2004, @gatorsfb let Ron Zook go and handed the interim job to Charlie Strong. He coached the bowl game, and Florida hired Urban Meyer. Strong stayed and kept building championship defenses, and by his own count at least 15 schools interviewed him before Louisville finally said yes.

So who decides when a coach is "ready" to lead?

AD Jim Smith has promised a national search. I'll be watching Abdul-Rahim on the field. If he wins, I'll be watching whether he gets a real seat at the table off it.

A lot of the biggest calls in college football happen in the athletic director's office. 👀

Today is National Tight Ends Day! It’s one of my favorite positions so these are MY top five and yes, a #GatorGreat made the list. 🐊 TE is one of the most exciting positions to watch. Who’s on your list? 🏈 #NationalTightEndsDay #everyvisiondeservesavoice by @cultivatingvision

ICYMI: Three Power 4 head coaches have been fired in the last five days. Maryland. NC State. Now Baylor.
The 2026 carousel is turning fast, and it doesn’t stop at head coaches. Coordinators and staff feel it next.
Last cycle, 1 in 4 FBS head coaches changed jobs. When your name comes up, ADs and search firms Google you before they ever call. What will they find?

1 in 4 FBS head coaches changed jobs in the 2025–26 cycle. That’s 34 of 136 programs, the most on record.
And it trickles down: 113 coordinator jobs turned over with them.
The 2026 carousel is already turning, with another head coach out this week.
When your name comes up, ADs and search firms Google you before they ever call. Your record shows what you’ve won. Your presence shows who you are: how you lead, how you develop players, and what you stand for.
Coaches who build that story early walk into interviews already known. Everyone else is scrambling in December.
I help coaches build a professional presence that works year-round: polished bios, strategic social media, media-ready messaging, and a digital footprint that matches their impact.
Stay ready so you don’t have to get ready.
