This is how Milwaukee rolls out the welcome mat. 🖤🏍️

K9 Social Club leading the way with a motorcycle escort to the @hdmuseum. Djembe Nation bringing the dance and drums. Dr. B and DJ Bizzon keeping the celebration moving. And Milwaukee flavor on every plate. 🔥

The @blacktravelsummit opening reception celebrated Black culture, creativity and community, with a big shoutout to @culturebydesignllc for programming an unforgettable evening.

Levy brought the flavor with a menu inspired by recipes from the Black chefs featured in Milwaukee Flavor: The Cookbook, giving guests a taste of the talent shaping our city’s food scene. Then more than a dozen other artists, historians, food and retail vendors helped bring the space to life, sharing their talents, stories and businesses with our guests.

From discovering the story of trailblazing motorcyclist Bessie Stringfield to connecting with local Black-owned businesses, the evening put Milwaukee’s people and stories at the center. To everyone who helped bring it to life and everyone who joined the celebration: you made this welcome one for the books. That’s that Milwaukee flavor. 💛

#AboutLastNight ✈️

Black Joy was in the building, and that’s an understatement!

From the food, fashion, and music to the rich history and culture woven throughout the experience, the opening night party for the Black Travel Summit the @hdmuseum was a beautiful reminder of the power of celebrating who we are.

Thank you, @blacktravelsummit, for bringing visitors from across the country to experience Milwaukee’s vibrant Black culture. There’s something special about seeing our culture celebrated, shared, and experienced through the eyes of others. 🖤

@culturebydesignllc & @visitmilwaukee understood the assignment! 🫶🏾

You’ve found an opportunity—but what happens when the portal won’t cooperate, the requirements aren’t clear, or the purchasing department won't answer?

Part One introduced the bid and RFP process. Part Two brings us together to talk through the challenges of navigating it.

Join Genyne Edwards, CEO of P3 Development Group; Geraud Blanks, Managing Director of Culture x Design; and additional guests for an open discussion on common pitfalls, lessons learned, and practical solutions.

Bring a challenge you’re facing, a lesson you’ve learned, or a question you haven’t had the chance to ask. Your experiences will help shape the discussion—from navigating procurement portals to communicating with purchasing departments.

Whether you attended Part One, have submitted bids before, or are just exploring government opportunities, you’re welcome.

Bring your questions and experiences. Attendance at Part One is not required.

#AboutDay4 My final session at @breakoutwest was “Supporting Black Music Professionals.”

This session happened because people asked for it. But wanting something isn’t enough, you have to put action behind those wants. Breakout West, @manitobamusic Black Professionals in Music (BPM), and @factorcanada are demonstrating what it looks like to turn that demand into action, creating space for diverse voices and perspectives year after year.

That commitment runs deep, and it matters. Representation doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when people listen, respond, and make the decision to keep creating space. Thank you all for DOING the work. 🫶🏾 by @culturebydesignllc

Harvest Day 2026 ☀️🍂

A day filled with family, fun, friends, food, music, and community! 🍔🤸🏾‍♂️🎨🎸🥁

#AboutDAY3 at @breakoutwest was all about 1:1’s.

Day three was all about one-on-one conversations with artists, providing feedback on their music, social media strategies, branding, marketing, and overall artist development. I even got questions about my work with the @recordingacademy @wearemomsinmusic @womeninmusic @marcus.center @hyfin.mke and @culturebydesignllc ♾️

What made the DAY special was creating space for artists to be vulnerable, emotional, and supported while helping them find direction for their projects. Day 3 was incredible. Now, let’s get into some amazing performances and look back at last night! #breakoutwest2026 by @culturebydesignllc

#FlashbackFriday to yesterday at @breakoutwest 🎶 I had the pleasure of sitting on a powerful panel about “Exporting Hip-Hop,” where we discussed festival booking, touring, radio, promotion, artist development, branding, and most importantly, telling your story in a way that connects beyond your region.

But before an artist thinks about expanding into another market, the first question is: Is your music good and is your story clear enough for people outside your region to understand why they should care? Take a listen to what 3 amazing participants thought of yesterday’s session. by @culturebydesignllc

#AboutBreakoutWest Day One 🪶

I experienced healing in real time, not as a theory, but through Indigenous artists, stories, leadership, and the intentional reclaiming of culture and voice.

September 30 is Canada’s “National Day for Truth and Reconciliation”, a day to honour Survivors, remember the children who never returned home, and confront the ongoing legacy of residential schools.

And being here, listening, witnessing, and learning made that truth feel very different. If it can happen here, it can happen everywhere. by @culturebydesignllc
