Elevating the Minds through the Arts. Curated by yours truly. It is an honor to be a partner with @united in presenting a Black History Month Art Installation at @iahhouston for the remainder of #blackhistorymonth. This is truly #historyinthemaking. It was a journey to complete the mission but with determination, team work and belief we made it happen. We are proud to feature 5 local Houston Artists in the installation and are looking forward to providing more opportunities, knowledge and culture to Houston and beyond. This is only the start. Thank you to Leonard the Chair of Beacon, to the Bush Airport staff for all of their help and to the Artists for being amazing. The programming was lovely and included a presentation from @reginaldadams who’ll be revealing a new installation soon in one of the terminals of the Airport. It twas lovely. We closed out the Free Crowns Exhibition with a lovely Artist talk, food, wine and a good time. Thank you @thebacktonaturel for allowing me to curate in the space, thank you to @thirdwardblooms for the backyard collab and lovely opportunity to create flower crowns, lastly a special thanks to all of the featured Artists!!!

I curate to create community, conversation, and to support Artists in our journey of growth and success. I am always grateful for those who support in any way, those who interact and those who come out to experience.

My next focus will be putting out all the content from the last year of curations so stay tuned!

What is Crown day?
The CROWN (Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair) Act prohibits discrimination based on hair texture and protective hairstyles associated with race—such as locs, twists, braids, and afros.
All the years of progression and we’re still fighting to show up in our natural form and to be respected.
To the tune of freedom alongside Juneteenth, we celebrate our natural beauty and our right to be ourselves in every form.
