Sefrou taught me many lessons — on interconnectedness, genuine love that cracks your heart open and respect to the roots and the ancestral wisdom.Last Thursday was an evening of shared JOY; an endless gratitude for all the meaningful connections, trust and alignment of vision, appreciation and care I’ve encountered along the way of creating The Invisible Threads of Creativity zine — an ode to the Moroccan eternal guardians of the thread of life. For the launch, I’ve invited my dearest friend Yasmine @yeddin_studio , whose work, created with so much love, carries stories, memories and textures through that same invisible thread, transcending time and spaces. This moment of alignment couldn’t be happier and more blessed. Choukran bzaf my dear!👑🪬🤍 Thank you @studionocturne_ for hosting us with so much care and attention on that special and hot evening and @hala_chekri for the curated Playlist. ✨🤍Endless Gratitude to the artisans’ community of Sefrou, to Jess from @culturevulturesfezsefrou , @taha.elhoumam , the most incredible artists and friends without whom this project would have only been a dream - @nazarzar (cover art), @ismailelaaddioui (graphic design), @anassouaziz (photo direction) and @kt_she @calverts_london for printing it. You all have my HEART. 🫀The zine is available via @studionocturne_ or directly through me. Edition of 100, with all proceeds going to the artisans community in Sefrou. شكرا by @culturetold

So many hands behind beauty... so many stories. I am so happy to share my zine “The Invisible Threads Of Creativity —Sefrou” — a creative collaborative visual storytelling project, exploring the heritage crafts of Moroccan artisans in the city of Sefrou, Morocco. The idea took shape after a month spent within Sefrou’s artisan community, as part of @culturevulturesfezsefrou Residency programme (AiR Sefrou). Time as a guest there reshaped my understanding of immersive collaboration, active listening and meaningful connection, and let curiosity lead.Making the zine has been a labour of love, brought to life through the vision and skill of three exceptional Moroccan artists: Nassim Riad Azarzar @nazarzar , Ismail El Aaddioui @ismailelaaddioui and Anass Ouaziz @anassouaziz . Each carries a deep love of land and culture, visionary in their own right.“The way we came to work together is a mixture of intentionality and pure alignment of care, respect and determination to tell stories in the most authentic and connected way possible.”Edition of 100, hand-signed on the launch night 16th July, hosted by @studionocturne_ , alongside the wonderful @yeddin_studio A5 format, 52 pages, including a special riso printed jacket cover and offset- printed inner dustjacketPrinted in London by @calverts_london , with special thanks to the amazing @kt_she The zine will be available to buy at the launch event, Thursday, 16th July at @studionocturne_ , and ordered directly to me (DMs are open for pre-order). All proceeds are going back to the artisans community in Sefrou. Zine launch playlist curation by masterminds @hala_chekri @anassouaziz I will be forever grateful for the generosity, kindness and wisdom of everyone involved in this project that lived in my heart and mind for over a year now. You all have my whole HEART!🫀A work that celebrates and is centred around Moroccan creativity has to rely on and use the native talent to showcase that in each and every aspect, otherwise it would have not been what it claims to be.شكرا by @culturetold

Many of you will know the Shahwan family who along with their wider community we collectively support every other week with our material care. They have made the decision to return to the remains of their house after their tent collapsed earlier this year and are focussing their efforts on rebuilding. This family are always ensuring they look after others in need within their community and this current project will ensure shelter for 6 families within the house including elderly and marginalised people. Together we are leveraging our privilege and raising funds to support this family and their community.Together we can alchemise the overwhelming feeling of despair with consistent action. By banding together, we are helping a family reach their goal. Self autonomy for Palestinians is always our focus. This work isn’t about raising temporary funds or a quick fix, it’s the making and nurturing of connections. being in it for the long haul with dedication. HOW TO HELP:Please find PayPal link in bio to donate what can and SHARE this with your community. NO AMOUNT IS TOO SMALL.(Commenting with sentences to boost is also a appreciated) @shahwanabd1 by @culturetold

Nowruz, Eid, Equinox… the universe seems to be in synch we humans can’t access nor achieve. It feels sacrilegious to stop and look at blooming trees, to feel joy, while the whole world is burning and mourning. There are no words that can hold all the feelings so instead, I will be sharing photos because they speak volumes.Wishing us all peace, total liberation from all oppression in this lifetime and joy. 🫀🤲🏼🪬 And a reminder that we always have each other. You can donate to @citythrifter Community Care Funds which supports Palestinian families and also families displaced in Lebanon. To connect, to identify, to belong, those are words that carry a whole universe. For third-culture individuals such as myself, the constant urge to know, share and connect has become as essential as breathing. Something similar happens to my dear friend- the talented writer @arsejda who guest-edits this week’s blog, sharing her thoughts and personal story about shape shifting identity through shared food and ancestral traditions. Link for the blog in stories and bio. Bon appetite ❤️ by @culturetold

I don’t believe in yearly resolutions nor in the fact that you have to have it all figured out the whole time. Life is not linear and neither is what we consider success or failure. 🌀I do believe in resistance, solidarity and love for others. Respect, mutual support and real understanding that comes with acceptance that otherness isn’t good or bad, it just is and that’s fine. We only have each other. Genocide cannot be a status quo. We have to do better. This broken world has to heal and change.Until then, bye 2025, which at times felt like being awake through a surgery… Thank you for the good, bad and the indifferent. 👋🏽🐎🪬1) The Palestinian bell part of the UNESCO realised project The Banner or Peace Monument, 19792) via @word.walker 4) Summer of Action for Gaza5) Mother Bulgaria” and the two Liberations (1877 and 1944) of Pleven, 12/1978 by Dimitar Boykov - arch. How does favourite relate to worth, meaning, and purpose? Is it so impossible for us to imagine that we can love in multiples, can have multiple preferences, equally valid and important. That we don’t need to categorise everything and everyone in order to validate worth. Morocco’s lessons that keep on giving. I’ve written a short opinion on why I’ve unsubscribed from the “whats your favourite” club on Substack. Link in stories 🖇️✍🏽 Tell me what you think 👇🏼 by @culturetold
