☁️☁️☁️CUMULO - 2026 Drama Desk Nominee for Outstanding Puppetry ☁️☁️☁️

@cumuloshow is an epic and emotionally complex story. We believe puppetry has the power to make the epic more tangible, and to be representing puppetry in a group of such talented nominees, is certainly an example of epic dreams made deliciously tangible.

Thank you to The Jim Henson Foundation, MITU580 & Theater MITU, Brooklyn Arts Council, New York State Council on the Arts, Puppeteers of America, and Green Feather Foundation. Thank you to the nominating committee, and the audiences who came to see us in Gowanus. This is just the beginning for CUMULO ✨️ taken in The Town Hall by @cumuloshow

@annierasiel in conversation with Emily Batsford on @cumuloshow: puppets, free fall, skydiving, and the Wizard of Oz. @mitu580

“Puppets have incredible potential for catharsis. As an actor, I can only tell a story through my own physical appearance. I can put on makeup or I can add a wig, but the audience is always going to meet me here at what I am, and there’s not much I can do about that. With a puppet, we have infinite space in which to meet. There’s so much room for imagination.” taken in Mitu580 by @cumuloshow

Brooklyn Night Out!

6:30pm: Insa, 328 Douglass St.
Start your night at Insa, a sleek KBBQ spot with private karaoke rooms - it's the perfect dinner place for a big group and also the best spot for a pre-show meal!

8:00pm: Cumulo, Mitu580, 580 Sackett St.
Then head to the experimental Mitu80 to catch Emily Batsford and Concrete Temple Theatre's new nonverbal puppetry piece, Cumulo! Whimsical and violent, CUMULO is a puppet allegory that examines how we reclaim autonomy when life sends us into freefall. Protagonist Plum plummets through a skyscape of sentient cotton candy clouds and creatures in an immersive journey of embodied self-transformation, supported by a cotton candy set embedded with fans, and a large-scale mobile of floating cloud islands. This is one of the shows we're excited for this month!

9:00pm: Parklife, 636 Degraw St.
And since we're finally out of the winter weather slump, it's time to head for post-show drinks at Parklife!!

(Cumulo starts previews tonight, with opening slated for 4/17, and runs through 5/3 - grab your tickets today!) taken in Gowanus, Brooklyn, New York by @cumuloshow
