Being a mom means someone always needs something from you.

But here’s the truth…

If you never make time for yourself, eventually you’ll be running on empty.

Movement isn’t another thing on your to-do list.
It’s how you get the energy to do everything else on your list.

Taking 20 minutes for yourself isn’t selfish.
It’s one of the best gifts you can give your family.

You deserve to feel strong.
You deserve to have energy.
You deserve to take care of you, too.

If this reminded you that you matter, save this for the next time mom guilt tries to talk you out of taking care of yourself.

Most people think this is just punching. It’s so much more.

This Qigong exercise combines a Horse Stance (Ma Bu) with controlled punches to build strength, coordination, and mindful movement.

How to do it:
✔️ Step into a wide horse stance.
✔️ Bend your knees as if sitting into a chair.
✔️ Keep your spine tall and your core engaged.
✔️ Make a gentle fist and punch straight ahead, alternating arms.
✔️ Exhale with each punch and inhale as you return.
✔️ Complete 20 punches per side for 3–4 rounds, 2-3x/week.

Benefits

💪 Builds lower-body strength
Holding the horse stance challenges your glutes, quads, hamstrings, and core while improving muscular endurance.

🔥 Supports weight-loss goals
Because you’re engaging large muscle groups continuously, this movement increases muscular demand and can help burn calories as part of an overall active lifestyle. The stronger your muscles become, the more energy your body uses throughout the day.

⚖️ Improves balance and stability
The static stance strengthens the muscles that support your hips, knees, and ankles while improving body awareness.

🌬️ Calms the nervous system
Matching your breath with each punch encourages mindful breathing and can help reduce stress and improve focus.

🌿 Traditional Qigong perspective
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this movement is believed to stimulate the Liver meridian, which is associated with the smooth flow of Qi (energy) and emotional balance. Practitioners often use it to help release frustration and cultivate a sense of grounding. While these are traditional beliefs rather than proven medical effects, many people find the practice calming and restorative.

Sometimes the most powerful movements aren’t the fastest.

They’re the ones that teach your body to be strong, grounded, and present.

Save this to practice later, and follow @CuppaTash for simple movement, Pilates, and wellness habits that help you build a healthier, happier, more intentional life. taken in Monterey, California by @cuppatash

“You’ve been glowing lately… who’s the man behind it?”

Jesus.

Don’t get me wrong…

The workouts help.
The healthy habits matter.
The mindset shifts are powerful.
The early mornings, the discipline, the consistency… they all play a part.

But my biggest glow-up didn’t happen when I changed my routine.

It happened when I started changing my heart.

When I stopped trying to control everything.
When I let go of the timeline I had written for myself.
When I stopped carrying burdens God never asked me to carry.
When I finally trusted that His plans were better than mine.

That kind of peace shows.

It’s the kind of glow no skincare routine, workout plan, or trend can give you.

This week’s reminder from Car Seat Chronicles still stands:

Let go. Let God.

The best version of you isn’t found in striving.
It’s found in surrender.

If this encouraged you today, save it for the days you need the reminder, and follow @CuppaTash for faith, wellness, and intentional living.

Teach Me Tuesday 🚶🏾‍♀️

Walking is one of the most natural things we do… but that doesn’t mean we’re doing it well.

Your gait (the way you walk) affects far more than just getting from point A to point B. It influences your posture, balance, joint health, efficiency of movement, and even your risk of injury over time.

The average person takes 3,000–7,000 steps a day. That means your body is repeating the same movement pattern more than 1–2 million times every year. If your gait is inefficient, those small compensations can add up and contribute to foot, knee, hip, or low back pain over time.

This is one of the reasons I love Pilates.

Pilates doesn’t just strengthen your core. It trains the muscles that support efficient movement, improves postural alignment, enhances balance, increases body awareness (proprioception), and helps you develop a smoother, more stable walking pattern. Studies have shown Pilates can improve walking speed, step length, functional mobility, balance, and other gait measures after as little as 8–12 weeks of consistent practice.

The goal isn’t just to walk more.

It’s to walk better.

Because every step you take today is an investment in how you’ll move tomorrow.

Save this as a reminder to pay attention to how you walk—not just how far. taken in Monterey, California by @cuppatash

The hardest thing I’ve ever had to release wasn’t a person or a situation.

It was control.

For a long time, I thought if I planned enough, worked hard enough, and held on tightly enough, I could protect myself from disappointment.

But control doesn’t create peace. Trust does.

I’m still learning what it looks like to loosen my grip and let God lead. Some days I do it well. Other days I find myself reaching for the wheel again.

Maybe you’re there too.

If God already knows the destination, sees every detour, and has a plan that’s greater than anything we could imagine… why are we exhausting ourselves trying to drive?

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5–6

What’s one thing you’re choosing to surrender this week? I’d love to pray for you. taken in Monterey, California by @cuppatash

Sunday Reset

Before you start planning your week…

Pause.

Take a deep breath.

Remember who goes before you.

You don’t have to earn God’s peace.
You don’t have to have every answer.
You don’t have to carry tomorrow’s weight today.

“Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” — Proverbs 16:3

My prayer for you this week:

May your mind find peace.
May your body find strength.
May your heart find rest.
May you walk boldly in everything God has prepared for you.

Amen. taken in Monterey, California by @cuppatash

We live in a world that celebrates the big wins.

The transformation.
The promotion.
The finish line.

But the truth is, those moments are built long before anyone notices.

One workout.
One healthy meal.
One early morning.
One hard conversation.
One choice to keep going.

That’s why I love this Jamaican saying:

“Every mikkle mek a mukkle.”

It means every little bit adds up.

Don’t underestimate the small things you’re doing today. They’re becoming the life you’ll be proud of tomorrow.

Keep showing up.
Keep choosing yourself.
Keep taking the next step.

Your progress is adding up, even if you can’t see it yet.

What’s one small thing you’re doing today that your future self will thank you for?

Save this as a reminder for the days when your progress feels too small. taken in Monterey, California by @cuppatash

Everyone sees the class.

The finished reel.
The smile.
The energy.
The highlights.

What they don’t always see is this part.

The early mornings.
The miles when I don’t feel like running.
The quiet moments with God.
The deep breaths between responsibilities.
The choice to keep showing up, even when it’s hard.

This is where I refill my cup.

Not because I have to.

Because I can’t pour into anyone else if I’m running on empty.

So if you’ve been giving everything to everyone else lately, here’s your reminder:

Take care of the woman who’s carrying it all.

Your cup deserves to be full too.

Girl to girl…

They lied to us.

Life doesn’t get better because you hit a certain age.

It gets better when you stop living for everyone else.

When you choose peace over pressure.
When you trust your instincts.
When you stop shrinking to make other people comfortable.
When you realize your health is worth investing in.
When your circle gets smaller, but your life gets fuller.

Every season has something beautiful to offer if you’re willing to grow through it.

So whether you’re in your 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, or beyond…

Keep becoming her.

The bold version.
The balanced version.
The woman God created you to be.

One small habit can make a big difference.

Instead of reaching for another cup of coffee this afternoon, try green tea.

Why I love it:
✔️ Provides a gentler caffeine boost than coffee
✔️ Contains L-theanine, which may help promote calm focus alongside caffeine
✔️ Rich in antioxidants that support overall health

It’s not about giving up coffee. It’s about creating more consistent energy throughout your day.

What’s one wellness habit you’re building this week?

Save this for your next afternoon energy slump. taken in Monterey, California by @cuppatash

If anyone knows about losing their balance… it’s me.

I trip over absolutely nothing.
I’ve tripped while standing still.
I’ve even managed to trip while sitting down.

So trust me when I say… I’m not talking about being perfect.

Balance isn’t about never wobbling.

It’s about learning how to find your footing again.

The same is true in life.

Some weeks work gets more of you.
Some weeks your family does.
Some weeks you’re just doing your best to keep your head above water.

That’s not failure.

That’s life.

Give yourself grace, keep showing up, and remember… balance is something you practice, not something you magically achieve.

Now tell me I’m not the only one who’s tripped over absolutely nothing. taken in Monterey, California by @cuppatash

Some of us would never speak to a friend the way we speak to ourselves.

“I’m not enough.”

“I’m always behind.”

“I’ll never get it right.”

“I’m not disciplined.”

“I’m too much.”

“I’m not enough.”

But the Bible reminds us that “death and life are in the power of the tongue.” (Proverbs 18:21)

That includes the words you speak over your own life.

Every time you repeat those thoughts, you’re planting seeds.

So today, catch yourself.

When you hear, “I’m not enough,” pause.

Replace it with truth.

“I am chosen.”

“I am loved.”

“I am capable.”

“I am growing.”

“I am becoming.”

The goal isn’t to pretend life is perfect.

The goal is to stop agreeing with lies that God never spoke over you.

Speak to yourself the way God speaks about you.

Save this for the days your inner critic gets louder than God’s truth.

Now tell me…

Which truth are you choosing to speak over yourself today?
