Somewhere along the way, we started treating aging gracefully and wanting to look good as opposites.

I’ve never understood why.

Somewhere between my morning tea and my third skincare launch email of the day, I noticed a pattern. Menopause, once whispered about like a bad breakup, has become the beauty industry’s newest It-girl.

Collagen loss. Skin longevity. Regenerative everything.

The science is genuinely fascinating. The marketing? Even more so.

And I couldn’t help but wonder… has menopause become the industry’s latest deadline?

Because there’s a fine line between helping women understand their changing skin and quietly reminding them the clock is ticking. One feels like a conversation. The other feels like a countdown.

Microneedling over 50. Is it worth the investment?

I believe it can be. But the conversation needs to go beyond collagen.

Mature skin isn’t simply younger skin with more wrinkles. Changes in skin thickness, elasticity, barrier function, sun exposure, hormones and previous treatments all influence how the skin responds.
And more aggressive doesn’t necessarily mean more effective.

Microneedling can support gradual improvements in texture, fine lines, scarring and overall skin quality. But meaningful results take time, and the approach should be guided by the skin in front of me.
If you’re hoping for significant lifting or volume replacement, I’d rather tell you that before you spend the money. Knowing when microneedling isn’t the right tool is part of treatment, too.

Recently, @kellyripa made me laugh when she said your neck ages in “dog years.”
