✨ Bring the outdoors in 👇
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
I spend a lot of my free time at the studio. It makes seeing my friends harder, hitting the gym less convenient, and making dinner less often.

However, I think if lil cross-eyed me heard she’d have her own small ceramic business that makes a positive impact on the world, she’d scream and jump for joy. And probably ask what that meant 😂

I’m noodling on a new impact project to donate to. What’s been on my heart lately are the Wildfires burning the sacred forests of Washington, the devastation in Nepal, the unfair Seattle city council behavior to delay the Orca Appeal.

Please like, comment or follow to stay tuned on where I land, and how you can help make a positive impact on the environment 🫶 by @curiousroots.studio

I’m not superstitious, but I’m a LITTLEstitious, and after a rare Orca sighting from a Seattle city beach, a few months after moving cross country, I felt the Orcas were welcoming me to Seattle and reassuring me that this Boston girl was right where she was meant to be ❤️ Here’s my yap track on why Orcas are on my heart.

Also! I’m pretty shy on camera so I figured why not share basically every step of the process to make these Orca Mugs 🤣 From shaping a blob of wet clay, to trimming and attaching the handle, to painting, glazing and the finished piece - with 2 kiln firings and more in between!

It’s a labor of love but 25% of the proceeds will be donated to @orcanexus , a grassroots nonprofit working to limit Seattle’s dirty stormwater released in to the Puget Sound (where the endangered Southern Resident Killer Whales live) The Orca’s and ocean conservation is worth it.

Please like, comment or share to get the word out about the cause! And if you’d like one, follow the link in my bio to sign up for the launch & learn more about the Pod Project and the Orca Appeal☺️ I’m thinking launch sometime next week! by @curiousroots.studio

Oh, the joys of being a woman 💞

One thing to know about me, is even if I’m goin through it, I’ll always show up when I need to. And with holidays around the corner and other projects on my plate, every moment in the studio is precious!

Im making Orca themed pieces for November’s drop, with some proceeds benefitting the endangered Orca population living in the PNW’s Puget Sound.

Stay tuned and sign up at the link in my bio to get notified of the drop! by @curiousroots.studio

Sometimes the voices in my head get loud. Sometimes the negative thoughts drown out the quieter ones, the hopeful“what if it works out…”

As a creative who cares a lot, I’m working on holding the outcome loosely. Instead, focusing on the joy of the process and the present moment.

I brought this mountain incense holder, inspired by my love of alpine lakes, to an evening sunset beach hang with my friend during the Autumn Equinox. It was a helpful tool to be present, as the incense stick marked the passing of time and the last Summer Sun set behind the Olympic mountain range 💕

How do you stay present? Share it in the comments below and we can create a lil library of tools👇 by @curiousroots.studio

Natural light can change quickly, especially in Seattle as the clouds move in and out. I absolutely loved the emperor’s new groove growing up, and this meme is perfect for this moment 👌

This sculptural incense holder is my donation to @ataskboston a non-profit dedicated to helping Asian survivors of domestic violence rebuild their lives. It depicts a lotus delicately floating on water. Ripples break the surface as the intention from the incense it holds spreads out into the world, beyond what the holder may ever know. An elegant piece of art, designed for use in the home.

I’m grateful my art can help others in need. I’ll post the link for the online auction when it’s up!

Here’s the Orca Collection I’m bringing to the Belltown Art Walk tomorrow!

I’m donating 10% of the proceeds to a local grassroots nonprofit, @orcanexus, which will go towards legal efforts to limit Seattle’s dirty stormwater runoff in Puget Sound.

Seattle recently approved a 20 year plan that doesn’t fully evaluate the environmental consequences of increased development - especially when it comes to removing mature trees. Trees filter and reduce polluted water runoff, which impacts human health, salmon, and the critically endangered Orcas living in the Puget Sound.

The Orca Appeal asks Seattle to study how the increased tree loss and stormwater runoff would affect our ecosystem.

This is my first non-studio related market and I’m buzzing with excitement and anxiety! Anxiety feels the same as excitement in my body, so I’m internally reframing the buzzing as excitement haha 🙃

My first @belltownartwalk was so fun, welcoming, and cup filling. I loved chatting with people about the intentional thought behind my ceramic designs. I incorporate a lot of texture into my nature inspired pieces, and it was amazing to see people holding my ceramics and literally feeling the intentionality behind them. A few highlights:
✨ Connecting with an East Coaster who visited my booth specifically to add to his ceramics collection. I’m so honored!
✨ Meeting a couple from Missouri, celebrating their 10 year anniversary with an Alaska cruise, and falling in love with the Orca pieces. AND her birthday was a day after mine! Libras 💕
✨ Having @whitebirdpins as my neighbor. They were so fun to chat with, we did a trade and I got a cute AF star sticker, AND they helped me pack up my table. Artists helping artists.
- Being part of @mixed.pantry ‘s community for the night. It it such a welcoming environment with a focus on uplifting the local asian community. I shall be back for the chili crisp tasting!! by @curiousroots.studio

I approached this summer differently than last, and poured into myself by prioritizing outside time, and saying yes to less.

And still: I expanded my studio art practice with two wedding commissions: a gift and a design & painting and a deeply symbolic and personal piece (more to come on that).

This summer was intentional, fun, and full of growth. There’s a reason PNW summer is worth sticking around for. My cup is so full, and I’m looking forward to sharing the magic from it with you this fall 🌲🌊🏔️☀️

Side note - wowwowthis song is so beautiful it makes me want to find the sheet music for it and bust out the piano again. Maybe a fall activity :) by @curiousroots.studio

It would be a crime to gut our protected forests and extract the life from them.

45 million acres of untouched National Forest may be opened up to new roads and commercialization such as logging. the current administration is moving to repeal the Roadless Rule which protects forests and trails in areas like the North Cascades, Mt. Baker, Mt. Rainier & The Olympics.

These pristine forests are home to incredible wildlife, clean watersheds, and stunning outdoor recreation (such as hiking, fishing, camping). They are the inspiration for my ceramics. My experiences outdoors are what fuels my art.

The Roadless Rule comment period ends next Tuesday, October 6th. Every voice matters.

I’ve been in my feels lately, reminiscing and trying to process all that summer’s shared with me. One of those pieces being these sunsets.

The end of summer was quite the fun, messy, chaotic rush. And as fall settles in and rhythms slow, I want to share what’s been bringing me joy outside the studio, and hopefully it brings a bit of joy to you too 💕 by @curiousroots.studio

If you see a wrinkle on my tablecloth…. No you didn’t 😂

I’m popping up at the @belltownartwalk THIS FRIDAY 9/11 at @mixed.pantry !! I’m super excited. It’s my first non-studio affiliated market so I gotta make sure my table setup is prepped and ready.

If you’re local to Seattle, I hope to see you there 😌 by @curiousroots.studio
