A time was had! đŸŒŸđŸ«¶đŸŸParticipating in the Black Affirming Research Methods Summer Institute at uOttawa led by Dr. Tya Collins was transformative. Learning from renowned national and international scholars working in the fields of Black Health, Social Work, Education, and Social Sciences alongside fellow attendees and future scholars helped cement what I already knew - the work is important, it’s urgent, and most importantly we are not alone. In fact, we will continue to build in the field of Black Studies, because we deserve it. Special thank you to Dr. Tya Collin’s, Christian, Ije and the amazing planning committee. I left the institute feeling more empowered than when I arrived. âœŠđŸŸ#BlackAffirmingresearchmethodsinstitute #uOttawa #BlackScholars #learning by @curlykeish

Think St. Patrick’s Day is just about parades? On the island of Montserrat, it runs much deeper. While it’s the only place outside of Ireland where today is a public holiday, the reason is rooted in a powerful act of resistance. In 1768, enslaved Africans turned a day of colonial celebration into a strategic blueprint for freedom. âœŠđŸŸ Today, we honor the bravery of the heroes of 1768.Share this Reel to your story to help us spread the hidden history about St. Patrick’s Day in Montserrat!
