Last week we hosted our 3rd @extrasharp_forum event titled OUR AMAZING EVOLVING BODIES/ WTF is Going On? A topic at the top of my list not least because my friends and I ask ourselves & each other these questions all the time: why do I have itchy legs and feel wild with rage. why is peri/ menopause such an overwhelming subject. how do I feel about my body changing and how women are perceived as we age? How to approach these questions without being cheesy, preachy or deflating seemed an impossible task until my three panel speakers came into focus. Weaving together the voices of @lizfremantle , @serena_rees and Gemma Ireland @bodyflowlondon revealed a fascinating intersection of discussions around the portrayal of women in literature, what we choose to wear and who we wear it for and how to find a sense of wonderment, serenity and strength in each of our bodies, no matter the age or appearance. Thank you to Liz, Serena and Gemma for sharing their vulnerabilities and candid accounts from their stellar journeys in their respective fields, thank you to everyone who came to be a part of it and as always grateful to @shoot.studio.london & the team for hosting us and producing EXTRA SHARP with me. We could have talked for days… maybe we need a Part II ? by @current.hero

Celebrating & spotlighting my amazing friend and visionary midwife Jenny Smith, who has just started her 110 mile trek in Nepal to raise funds for @jentlechildbirth charity, and a new film focusing on the birth-and-beyond circle of support. At a time when 1 in 3 graduate midwives in the UK are unable to secure employment despite having worked tirelessly to complete their training at a vast expense, and midwives already working in the system being dangerously overworked, Jenny’s cause in raising awareness is so valuable. Last weekend we had the most brilliant stay @tors_park in Lynmouth. This beautiful spot is nestled in the depths of Devon with breathtaking views of the sea and the Exmoor moorlands as a backdrop, and is perfect for a weekend getaway with kids, friends and family. We did the most amazing 3 hour round- trip walk through the thick mist, up dramatic cliffs dropping to the sea and wiggling down through a valley to have lunch at the very cosy @blueballinn_countisbury pub - the boys loved this adventure and the adults were rewarded with a late afternoon sauna overlooking the sea on our return to @tors_park , followed by an amazing sound bath. All so fun and the perfect relaxing & revitalising weekend. Thank you @samg1over for masterminding this special place, and thank you and @alicetemperley for including us xxx by @current.hero

On Tuesday evening I hosted our second EXTRA SHARP event - a panel discussion titled Fashion Innovators with @mariamilano , @lupepuerta & @annafoster with our special guest brand @elvdenim. A great way to kickstart January and what felt like a galvanising talk, with three women who are actively innovating and championing change for good in their respective areas at a challenging time for our fashion industry. Beyond fashion, we also discussed overcoming obstacles, sharing vulnerabilities and the power of communication and in-person connection. Thank you so much Lupe, Anna and Maria / ELV Denim for joining me, @shoot.studio.london team for hosting and producing the event and thank you to everyone who came to spend their evening with us. On Thursday evening I was so thrilled / nervous / excited to host my first EXTRA SHARP Women’s Forum at @shoot.studio.london with the brilliant @dolly_jones - I ‘stalked’ her on social media , found her and convinced her to do an ‘In Conversation’ with me about her important first book : ‘Leaving the Ladder Down : How to combine Career and Motherhood, from the Women Who’ve done it ‘ . The evening was also a nod to my late mum, the fiery Clare and her bikini ordering soirées back in the 80s , which I recreated with the help of the iconic @hunzag 👙👙💓 The literature & volume of conversations around the universal topics covered in Dollys book are definitely increasing, but reading it myself made me realise how much still needs to change , how deeply ingrained preconceptions need to be challenged and most importantly, i just think we need to keep talking to each other and listening to each other . Thank you to everyone who came & supported near or far, to the spectacular women in my life and of course Thank You to @dolly_jones for blindly trusting me and being the best co host! If you don’t have a copy I highly recommend this heart warming book which made me laugh , cry and has fuelled many new chats & debates.
