This was the first jean jacket I bought when I got into raw denim/selvedge jeans. It’s definitely shrunk a lot since I bought it. 5 different jobs, 4 times being unemployed, and skateboarding. Jacket turns 5 years old next month.

I feel this jacket was part of the reason i won a fit pic contest. Which got me a cool shell cordovan card case. I have other jackets that finally will get shown the love this one has gotten. Now that it’s graduated to a vest. Its had quite a life in those 5 years.

16 year old me is very happy. I SHOULD have ordered these at launch but didn’t. Noticed they dropped in price which gave me the wake up call to finally order them. Shoes fit great. Definitely takes me back.

Thanks @jamiethomas for re releasing these. Would love to see these in black with a gum sole. Maybe some new colorways too. Box itself feels LUX. Written thank you, stickers and lil notebook. I wanna order multiple pairs!

I recorded a video giving my first impressions of this tribute model. I was SHOCKED to see no one has made a video yet talking about this shoe. I’ll be posting that in a day or two.

When I started skateboarding in 1999. I favored transworld magazine over thrasher. I would usually renew for multiple years at a time. When they went under I was given an option for another magazine for the remainder of years left on my subscription. I ended up with like 6ish useless years of some sports magazine.

I heard about closer from the nineclub I believe. Although I never stopped skateboarding I stopped doing tricks. This magazine sounded cool. But I never subscribed. This magazine does 4 issues a year and it’s $80 a year. I would have picked up this issue for the Marc Johnson tribute alone.

When I saw there was also an AWS MIND FIELD piece in this issue. I had even more of a desire to buy this issue than I already did. I had no problem shelling out $30 to get this shipped to my doorstep.

Since I got back into doing tricks recently I also picked up a death lens for my phone. I SHOULD HAVE bought one of these years ago. But as I stated earlier I basically STOPPED doing any and all tricks. Hyped to have one and excited to put it to USE!

Asked my mom if she could make me a duck canvas vest. This was supposed to be just a sample of how the vest would have turned out. But I ended up designing the pockets. Used some spare 16.5oz brave star selvage for the pockets. She originally wanted to make the vest with a lining but I didn’t like that idea.

I was down with having the pockets being lined though. I Suggested a sugar skull or polka dot lining and she found this red background with sugar skulls. Which ended up being perfect in my eyes. Purchased some buttons you hammer in from amazon. I only hammered the buttons in and ironed out the fabric for the pockets.

I suggested she put her initials on the inside of the jacket. Or make some kinda tag with her initials on it. But she hasn’t gotten around to it yet. Maybe one day. Oh by the way this isn’t Japanese selvedge denim that was used. The jeans feel like they could be 13-14oz though. They definitely feel a slight HEFT to them.
