✨ I’M GOING TO LAW SCHOOL. ✨

“If you can’t feel my pain
Well, this ain’t for you anyways…”

Issue:
Whether someone like me — a first-generation college student from Lima, Ohio, born to an immigrant mother and a father facing felony convictions— really get into law school after 3 application cycles and 17 denials?

Rule:
Law school admissions say they look for resilience, growth, academic readiness, and character. Not perfection — persistence. Not where you started — but how you finish.

Application:
It took 3 cycles. 17 hard denials. 1 master’s program. 1 year working a dead end full time job.
I’ve been unhoused. Unfed. I’ve battled anxiety, depression, and BPD. I’ve had days where survival was the only goal.
But I chose therapy. I chose faith. I chose community. I chose to rest without quitting. I chose to heal without giving up.

Before 25, I’m stepping into law school to pursue my third degree — not because the road was easy, but because I refused to let it end where it started.

Conclusion:
Yes. I can get into law school.
Yes. I did get into law school.

From survival to stability.
From counted out to called forward.
From “no” to “welcome.”

My cup runs over. And we’re just getting started. ⚖️📚✨

Mastered It, with Honors. 🎓

I moved halfway across the world to chase my dreams. With that being said, I’m always doing, never done. I asked myself daily, Do you know what it takes to be great? Do you know what it takes to increase the stakes📈?

A First Gen Grad. Checking every box when it came to needing assistance. I continue to make a way. For my family who held me down I forever love you. To my community, that black lawyer is coming soon. Nothing but grit, grind, and determination. I Curtis Lamont Shannon Jr, did it again.
