You are Everything

Sometimes i am told “you think differently” but in my mind, I sometimes see things differently. Today as i watched the sunrise, I wondered how some people don’t see that a power greater than themselves who have them life, gives them as much grace as it gives the sun. Yesterday was a rainy, cloudy day and today is the most beautiful day of the week so far. We get the same blessings on a daily basis. Out with cloudy days & in with sunshine ☀️

Today I saw myself in everything, everywhere.

I saw myself
as a boat on the water, and as a tiny dim of light that was coming up from the clouds.

I saw myself as a stone on the beach and as a seashell that came out of the ocean for a chance to be somewhere else for a while.

I saw myself as a bird that arrived after sunrise for its morning prayers, and as the sky hearing its prayer.

I saw myself as the lighthouse being present in the darkness and in the light so that someone who might be lost, might be found.

I hope you can see your soul like we the sun and everything everywhere - beautiful and full of light!

Think of something you love about yourself today and celebrate it! ❤️🤍🙏🏻☮️ by @cush4

GO BEARS 🐻
Friday, I attended a Bears Care event celebrating those who support breast cancer treatment. As some of you know, I was diagnosed with breast cancer on 6/23/25. I was fortunate to be invited by a nonprofit called Culinary Care. In order to attend the event, you had to be a breast cancer survivor or currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

What I found out is that the Chicago Bears do a lot of fundraising for breast cancer research through their annual gala and game during breast cancer awareness month, but they started a Bears Care event to support the people who start nonprofits that care for breast cancer survivors.
They are the folks who have been hands on and provide comfort type of support during treatment.

I am so very grateful for Culinary Care, who not only provides you with a healthy meal but also provides one for your angelic care buddy. For me, it became the one meal I had that day, along with some peace of mind knowing that my care angel had a delicious meal before heading home.

This event brought up lots of feelings, but connecting with people who had similar experiences or are going through even more than I kept my heart aligned with the mission. “No one fights alone.”

The truth is, we are not survivors; we are champions in a fight no one ever expects to participate in. I am certain prayers, caregivers, the greatest nurses, and loads of medical staff, along with Culinary Care, is what got me to and will get me through end of this treatment on 11/17!!!

Thank you to every single person who has held me in hope, thought and prayer i see you. ❤️🤍🙏🏻🫶🏻

Rotary Phone

I picked this phone up years ago from an estate sale. I remember seeing it for sale and being flooded with memories of my grandmother.

Everything from the weight of the receiver, the thundering ring which clanged against the phone, to the sound of the rotary as it went around and how long it took to call London or Ireland 011-44-. My grandma had an old hearing aid that she wore clipped to her house dress she spoke upside down into the mouthpiece of phone as the receiver sat on her hearing aid.

In those days there was an actual piece of furniture you bought for your phone. It was a tiny table for the phone with phone book stored just below on a shelf and a chair or bench attached to table. It was a privilege to be invited to sit in the chair and say hello to someone who had called from overseas while you were there.

Nowadays folks don’t talk on the phone, you worry more when you do receive a call thinking it’s news that wouldn’t/shouldn’t come via text. I still make unexpected calls and enjoy hearing a loved one or friend’s voice on the other end but i never lived up to my mom’s expectation of a phone call every day.

Later in her life, my Mom didn’t call folks very often, but during the 2020 CoVid lockdown and after she called me every day at 7pm like clockwork, right on time, saying “nothing new here anything new there?” No. “Well I’m going to wish you a good night sleep and me a good night sleep and I’ll talk to you tomorrow”. The tomorrows were less and become less as we age. Time becomes precious. The calls are rare.

But One thing i know, no matter how often you spoke to that someone in your life, you will always remember your last call. The last time you heard their voice. It won’t be the sound of a text notification you will miss, it will be the missing voice on the other end.

Sometimes i walk past this old rotary phone and dial 011 just to hear the sound of calling overseas, only now it rings in Heaven. Xx by @cush4

There is something really beautiful about starting your day with the rising sun. I’m blessed to live in Chicago and when you see the sunrise over Lake Michigan life becomes magnificent. If there is one thing that you can depend on it’s that the sun will continue to rise despite any weather or anything happening in your life. There is a force in that light that speaks to you and says “let’s go, we got this! Take the time to take in the sacred! You.Are.Loved. taken in Chicago, Illinois by @cush4

LifeGuard

I found the keys to your house
in an old forgotten jar,
Quiet echoes of you
among keepsakes, trinkets
and keys to an old car.
I sometimes wonder,
on days like today,
if in the comforts of heaven
you have your own place.

Or—

Do you wander or roam
beyond the pearly gates?

Do you go wherever you want to go,
find a ladder to the top of the moon,
sit on a cloud, a star, or a tree,
and simply admire the sun?

Do you get up at sunrise
and swim laps in the sea,
be a lifeguard in the morning
and a guardian all year?

But wherever you are,
I know you’re not far—
you’re only a heartfelt memory away.

My Dad would be 96 today i can’t imagine 96, he passed at 71. I can’t imagine him facing the fragility of your 90’s. When i picture him in heaven i see him traveling the open sky as strong as Superman. He loved open water and wanted to retire lakeside, i think heaven offered him that retirement. As a retired Firefighter i hope for my own sake he has some duty in Heaven to help save lives
