Some people become part of a company. Others become part of its history.

These first photos are from a CFC Christmas party at Ruby Lake Restaurant in the early 90s. That familiar face, and unmistakable smile, belong to Cory, who more than 30 years later is still very much part of our Custom Flooring family.

Many of you will remember Cory from the years he spent installing carpet in homes across the Sunshine Coast. Others may know him as the familiar face behind the wheel of our CFC truck, making the ferry crossing several days a week, almost always with his loyal co-pilot Potato riding shotgun.

Last week, Cory became critically ill with a severe case of pneumonia and was taken to Lions Gate Hospital, where he remains in the ICU on life support.

He is currently stable, but he has a very long road ahead. His family has been told to expect at least another 4 to 6 weeks in the ICU, followed by what could be many months of recovery and time away from work.

For someone who has been part of our team, our history and our lives for so many years, this has hit incredibly close to home.

Right now, we just want Cory to have the time he needs to fight, heal and come home, and for Tammy to be able to stay by his side without the added weight of worrying about the months ahead.

A GoFundMe has been created to help them through this time. If you’re able to donate, any amount would be deeply appreciated. If you can’t, sharing the fundraiser, sending some good thoughts their way or simply keeping Cory, Tammy and their family in your thoughts means just as much.

Cory has been there for us for more than 30 years. Now it’s our turn to be there for him.

We’re all rooting for you, Cory. 🤍

The master bathroom was likely the most collaborative room in the entire cabin.

From the beginning, we weren’t just trying to create a beautiful bathroom. We were trying to capture a feeling.

We seriously considered microcement for the shower and bathroom walls, but after months of research, we ultimately chose large-format porcelain tile. It gave us the same calm, monolithic look while offering better durability and standing up to decades of wet, steam, kids and everyday life. Huge credit to @customflooringcentres for bringing that vision to life with exceptional attention to detail.

We also knew one thing from day one: there would be no plastic shower pan. The shower is fully tiled, right down to the custom sloped base, so it feels like one continuous space from wall to wall.

The vanity became its own journey. We found an inspiration image we couldn’t stop thinking about (slide 11), then spent months with @hansonlandandsea figuring out how to build it (slide 12 for the rendering).

@vanurbantimber supplied two incredible solid fir slabs that became the floating top and lower shelf. @junckhunter meticulously crafted every detail, preserving the natural grain and character while making them feel refined. @trlwelding fabricated and welded the custom steel legs that quietly hold the whole piece together.

From there, every finish was chosen to complement the natural materials rather than compete with them: @nativetrails concrete sinks, @brizofaucet faucets in Luxe Gold, @matteolighting Bullstrode pendants, and a 6-foot circular mirror that anchors the entire room beneath the skylight.

Floor-to-ceiling tile, cedar ceilings, solid fir, steel, concrete, brass and glass. Somehow the room feels both understated and incredibly rich.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped bring this space to life. It wouldn’t exist without your incredible craftsmanship.

The Sunshine Coast has been teasing summer, and we’re absolutely here for it 👏

A little more light, a little more warmth, and suddenly spaces like this hit different - especially when textured tile is involved 😏

Lucky to work alongside such creative local builders, designers, and clients.

What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay there 😉

We headed to TISE 2026 to see where flooring is actually headed — and the takeaway was clear: faster, smarter, more sustainable, and more design-forward than ever.

From AI-driven tools to material innovation and new product lines, everything we focused on had one goal: better outcomes for our clients. Swipe through. →

1. AI tools improving measuring, estimating, and visualization — fewer surprises, clearer decisions, smoother installs.

2. Smarter materials — colour-matched Schluter details and next-gen wood-core laminates balancing durability and design.

3. Exploring new design-forward lines across surfaces — curated, intentional, and built for real projects. Fresh vendor drops coming soon.

4. New engineered hardwoods and vinyl tiles finalized and arriving into stock soon 🤝and got to hang with one of our faves @unifloor.paul

5. Where design is heading — earthy reds, moody greens, muddy neutrals, softened blues, + deeper, darker wood finishes

6. Seeds planted 🌱 Exploring new ways to experience materials beyond interiors (exciting things coming this spring 🤫).

7. Long-standing partnerships, new connections, and nearly 20 years of relationships that keep us sharp and accountable.

More to come. taken in Las Vegas, Nevada by @customflooringcentres
