It took me 3 months to bring this from an empty shed in the back yard to my completed studio. On Saturday night I completed the last of my tasks to finally finish up my new space. I’m so happy with how it all came together. Are there things I’d do differently if I could go back and do it again? YUP! But as is I’m very stoked with how it turned out and I’m very eager to get back to customizing in my new space! Over the next couple weeks ill be putting together some videos for YouTube (I hope) to show off some of the work I’ve done in the studio (both my display case and my work space) so stay tuned to get more info on when those will drop!Gotta give a big ole shout out to my father in law @mick.roland who was instrumental in bringing my vision to life here. For this weeks #tbt here is a fun little Spot custom I made for @dlterner as part of last years @legendarysecretswap Secret Santa. I had so much fun making this figure. The circles were all done by hand and were very tedious but the portal system was the thing I was most proud of. It turned out so awesome! Most of it works using flight stand stems and magnets. Very adaptable and gives multiple options for posing. Here’s my custom Streex/Blades from Street Sharks as a #tbt for you all on this lovely Thursday. ok ok, I know I share this custom pretty regularly, but fact of the matter is I still love it to this day! It’s one of my fav figs I’ve ever made in the 8+years I’ve been customizing. It also just happens to be a figure I made for the Fwoosh Secret Santa so it’s totally relevant to all the secret Santa reveals that have been happening over at @legendarysecretswap. I hope one day I get the chance to make another one of these guys cause he was a blast to make. Here’s a fun #tbt to when I made these custom @brianmbendis All New X-Men figs. I absolutely loved this run (along side Bendis run of Uncanny X-Men in the Marvel Now era) and I knew I had to have them represented in my display. Here is an Outback Psylocke I made for a commission back in April. Sadly, this figure didn’t even get to its new owner before the official figure got revealed. F*ckin’ bummer for sure. She was made using a Shriek buck, a Grey Gargoyle cape, Monet shoulder armor and a head sculpt from eBay. I made the unmasked head by using an unidentified female head and hand sculpted hair. I suck at hair pretty badly but my homie @morning_woof tried to help me make sense of it and it kinda worked. While I don’t think my hair sculpt is great, I didn’t hate it like I usually do so I guess that’s a plus? I sculpted all the detail on the torso, legs and arms using apoxie sculpt and added sculpted detail to the cape using green stuff. Oh and I don’t think Outback Psylocke had a sword, but the customer requested it so of course I made it happen. Shout out to another friend @opticustoms for the help with the sword prints. Overall, I really like how betsy turned out here. I’ll be starting prep on my next custom figure, Silk in her original costume on Friday night after the @legendarysecretswap Summer Swap review livestream. Here’s a first, I’m making 2 of the same custom for @higa_please (who I previously made Cosmic Carnage for). I’ve been thinking of best approaches to tackle this costume and I think my buddy @dvon.art came up with the best option which I’ll share soon! Feeling pretty confident it’s going to work well. As for the head sculpts, I bought both off eBay, neither of them fit due to the hair being hard and completely in the way of the body it’s supposed to go on so that should be so fun to figure out 😒. So stoked with how this Thunderbolts Radioactive Man I made for @quilombo29 turned out. Once i figured out the recipe for the base figure i got pretty excited about the potential for how this could turn out. In the end i am very satisfied. I really love the LED light up feature on the gas mask head and the magnetic hands that hold the effects pieces. And painting this gritty yellow was a lot of fun too. Honestly I’ll be sad to see him go but glad it’s going to my buddy who is building out this specific version of the Thunderbolts. #radioactiveman #thunderbolts #customfigure #marvellegends #commission by @customsbymatchu

This weeks haul consists of one pretty damn impressive Marvel Legend figure. This Maximum series Thor I picked up this week is quite impressive. He has a great range of motion in most of his articulation (even a surprising amount in the neck for a long haired character) and comes loaded with 3 sets of hands plus an extra for flying Mjölnir poses. Oh and did I forget to mention the very nice, fully wired cape he comes with and a swappable face/hair/helmet set up to give you multiple combinations of options for the head. He also has a ball jointed torso, drop down hips and hinged toes. My only real complaint here is the lack of boot swivel. It has been notably absent in many recent Marvel Legends releases and I gotta say im not a fan. But otherwise, this guy is real damn nice. This is what the Maximum series should be doing with every release. But bring back the goddamn boot swivel! #myhaul #thor #marvellegends #maximumseries #mycollection by @customsbymatchu

This Spot I made for the @legendarysecretswap a few years back is still prob one of my absolute fav customs I’ve ever done. He was made for @dlterner. I honestly don’t know how I could top it. He has a magnetic spot portal base, he has magnets implanted in his waist and torso. He also has swappable spider man parts that are all magnetic that connect to the base.
