I’m seeing a lot of new faces both here & in the suite, so I thought we were due for a little reintroduction.

I’m Veda! I’m a haircutting enthusiast in Farmingdale NJ & you can find me at Style en Suite, Suite 127. I come from a DIY cutting background, having spent a lot of my youth in my mom’s bathroom with the craft scissors & at least 3 mirrors. Now I get my catharsis out on other people’s heads 😁😁 I focus mainly on layered haircuts, alternative haircuts, & low maintenance styling.

I created Studio Saint Vier to create the kind of haircutting experience I would have liked myself, but could never find. I started this career hellbent on being as much of myself as I could, in order to build a clientele of fun, authentic, & unapologetically odd & interesting people. And so far, it’s working pretty well! Y’all are a strange & magnificent bunch 🖤

Outside of work, I live with my husband Bijan & our two cats, Dark Templar & Speculoos. I’m almost always trying to learn to play an instrument, & rarely getting very far doing so. I’m a big crafter & reader (and I keep a shelf of free books in the suite! Please take one home!)

I have two big announcements as we go into year two of Studio Saint Vier!

The first is that prices are increasing on July 1st. Standard haircuts will be $125. Treatments add-ons will stay at the current rate and there will no longer be a $10 upcharge for Calligraphy cuts!

If you make your booking before July 1st, you will lock in the current rate, even if your appointment falls after July 1st. All appointments booked on 7/1 or later will be at the new rate.

The second announcement is one I am very excited about!! I will be offering 3 pay-what-you-can haircut appointments per month. These slots will open on 15th of the month for the next month (so for example, on June 15th, booking will open for July). Once the slots are booked, online booking will be closed for them. If you don’t see “Pay-What-You-Can” on the service menu, all three slots have been filled for the month!

There is only one qualification for a Pay-What-You-Can appointment and that is that you have not had a service with me within the past 6 months. This is to allow as many people as possible a chance to book one of these appointments.

I am so grateful to everyone who has supported me this past year. It’s thanks to you that I’m able to offer services like this and I deeply appreciate each and every one of you. 🖤

Hi y’all! A little update to my current cancellation policy.

I try to be as laid back as I can be about cancellations and reschedules, but I’ve been having a lot of last minute reschedules and cancellations with no communication, which is not cool.

Life happens, and I’m never looking to punish anyone for needing flexibility. I know you want to come in for your haircut, and that you don’t want life to get in the way of that, but at the end of the day, this is my livelihood and I can’t be letting multiple people a week reschedule their appointment mere hours beforehand. It’s just not feasible that I’ll be able to fill those spaces in such a small time frame.

This does mean that clients will no longer be able to reschedule or cancel their appointments online if they are within the 24 hour window. Instead, kindly shoot the studio a text at 732-455-9716 if you can no longer make your appointment, and I will happily get you rescheduled! Last minute reschedules are now subject to the 20% cancellation fee.

And finally, if you no show for a Pay-What-You-Can appointment and I do not hear from you within a reasonable time frame, you will be banned from booking with me. These appointments are limited and I’m not interested in messing around when that opportunity could have gone to someone else. If you cannot make your appointment, please, do me the kindness of letting me know as soon as you can.

Not only are rat tails one of the most exciting haircut requests to me, but Alyssa also asked to keep a braid to practice making Victorian style memorial jewelry, which is maybe the coolest thing a client has ever said to me.

The right bang and the right face framing will open and lift your face. And I know that sounds counterintuitive. How could covering more of your face make your face feel more open?

It’s the control that shorter hair around your face gives you. No more hair falling over your face when you tilt your head. No more long curtains of straight lines covering the curve of your cheek. Instead, we have curves that hug the face, drawing attention to it instead of away.

One of my favorite cuts I’ve done recently—a hime meets hush cut moment.

I hear a lot of people slag off the endless names for haircuts on social media (and I’m guilty of this too. I have 100% found myself yelling at a listicle going, “sometimes a bob is just a bob!!!”)

But even though a lot of these cuts are shags at their core, I’ve noticed that the thing that gives a shag a new name is usually where the weight falls.

When I hear wolf cut, I think heavier around the face. When I hear hush cut, I think roundness and weight up top, and then disconnection below the occipital.

That being said, these names need to have a photo inspiration behind them! One man’s wolf cut is another man’s mullet! 😂
