The CvA harpclass is back! Starting 2026/2027 with smiles and some new faces😊 Stay tuned for all the new projects, concerts and other exciting things we have planned for this year!
First, meet the new harpists in our Class:

Hi! I’m Emma, I’m 17 years old and I’m from the Netherlands. I play the bassoon and the harp. I started playing the harp when I was 3 years old and I still love it very much🤗 I wanted to study here, in Amsterdam, because I really like the teachers and the school. I’m looking forward to start my bachelors here!

Hey! I’m Clara and I’m a pre-master’s student from A Coruña, a coastal city in northern Spain. I began studying the harp when I was 8 at my local conservatory before moving to Madrid in 2021 to study at the RCSMM.
During those years, playing in various youth orchestras confirmed mydesire to become a professional orchestral musician.
I chose to study here to learn from active orchestral teachers, pursue new career opportunities, and benefit from the country’s supportive grant system. I also appreciate sharing the space with
students from different departments at the conservatory, as well as being in a city with a rich musical scene that offers access to major orchestra concerts and a wide variety of styles.

Hi! I’m Elina, from Austria and I have been playing the harp since I was six. I started with piano at four, as my parents thought a harp was too expensive. Two years later, I was still fascinated by the instrument and its sound — and so I started to play the harp.
I’m very excited for my time in Amsterdam, to learn, grow as a musician and develop my own musical personality. Outside of music, I enjoy knitting at Café De Laatste Kruimel and going for long runs. 🧶🏃‍♀️ by @cva.harpclass

Final Recitals coming up!🎶🎶
Come join us in the Final Recital of Elisabeth, this Friday (19th) at 16h in Bernard Haitinkzaal!
Here’s a bit about her…

Born in Madrid in 2001 to a Spanish-Irish family, she began her harp studies at the Arturo Soria Professional Conservatory with Beatriz Millán. She then completed her higher education at the Madrid Royal Conservatory of Music with Susana Cermeño, where she also holds a Master’s Degree in Artistic Education in Performance and Performative Research of Spanish Music. She is now completing a Master’s Degree in Performance at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Sandrine Chatron and Anneleen Schuitemaker.

Very involved in orchestra, she has been the first harpist of the Spanish National Youth Orchestra (JONDE) from 2022 to 2026, and has frequently collaborated with numerous other Spanish youth orchestras such as JORCAM, OJEX, the Freixenet Symphony Orchestra (ESMRS), among others. She has also been invited to international youth orchestras and festivals, such as the Esker Festival Orchestra (Ireland), the Nationaal Jeugdorkest (The Netherlands), and the upcoming edition of the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra (Germany).
She also regularly collaborates with professional Spanish orchestras such as ORCAM, ROSS, BOS or OCG and she recently played with Dutch orchestras such as RCO, NedPhO or NNO, under the direction of prestigious conductors such as Klaus Mäkelä, Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Pablo Heras-Casado or David Afkham, among others.
Also passionate about chamber music, she is a member of Dalila Duo and Alborada Trio, ensembles with which she has performed with all over The Netherlands.

In the meantime, she has also simultaneously earned a Bachelors degree in Art History at the Complutense University of Madrid, where she has taught seminars in said course.

We’re excited to cheer her on this final step of her journey in our Harp Class and wish her all the best in her next adventures😊🪉 by @cva.harpclass

Last week, we also had the wonderful opportunity to welcome American harpist, harpsichordist, and organist Parker Ramsay @parkertheharper to work in our contemporary repertoire.

Parker shared his experience as a collaborative musician, speaking about his work with composers, the development of new projects, fundraising and artistic production, as well as the many possibilities of sound, effects, and extended techniques on the harp.

The students had the opportunity to discover a broader perspective on today’s musical landscape and the evolving role of the harp in contemporary performance. by @cva.harpclass

In the last two months we had the opportunity to benefit from an Erasmus Exchange Program for teachers with the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts (HfMDK).

In April, we welcomed Françoise Verherve, teacher of the @harfenklassefrankfurt , for an inspiring masterclass and enriching conversation about her career, the art of harp playing, and the many skills involved in being a harpist.

In May, our teacher Sandrine Chatron visited Frankfurt, where she gave a masterclass to the HfMDK Harp Class and shared her own artistic experience and musical vision.

These exchanges were a wonderful opportunity for a shared artistic dialogue and learning experience. by @cva.harpclass

Last week, at the @cva.harpclass we were lucky to have a great masterclass from Imogen Barford, head of the harp departement at GSMD in London!

We played, danced, we laughed, we questionned and answered about everything, we understood better our bodies and how to use them, we tlaked about some golden rules of harp playing. We practised slowly, we talked about Handel's concerto in detail, and about how to build up a solid technique which can help us to express better.

It was very intense and very inspiring, thank you Imogen!
