📢 We’re excited to announce our website www.cv.community! Link in bio. Tag us with community events. And don’t forget to bookmark and share it! The CV Community Action Group made up of a small team who was born and raised in the Coachella Valley. This is our home. But at some point, it started to feel like we’ve been forgotten with each decision made by the Valley’s cities. After attending city council meetings, planning meetings, and others, we realized why. The people in these rooms don’t like us and don’t represent us. Our goal for CV Community Action Group is to change this by: 🤝 Bringing people together 🧠 Providing education on why and how to get involved 🙋🏻‍♀️Making getting involved easier 🏃🏽‍♀️‍➡️Engaging and activating the community to action Our goal is to focus on the CV as a whole. Right now, we’re focusing on the ECV. Our goal ranges from both short-term to long-term. Short-term we’d like to promote timely events to get as much support as possible. But our real goal is long-term consistent engagement to create a future CV where we’re no longer left out and forgotten. If you have ideas, we’d love to hear them! This is a project for the people. The City of Indio is about to vote on whether they are going to direct staff to prepare an amendment to the General Plan to ban data centers, or consider an alternative regulatory approach. If you are able, please join us at the City Council meeting to tell them that we want a ban, and we want them to prepare that amendment to the general plan now. The meeting will take place on Wednesday at 5pm at 100 Civic Center Drive, Indio CA 92201 This decision will effect the whole Coachella Valley; anything other than a complete ban in Indio could open the door to softening a ban in other cities like Coachella. If you are not able to attend please submit your written comment to the city clerk by 2pm on Wednesday. A ban in Indio would be a huge win against data center development in the Coachella Valley, but Unincorporated Riverside County remains completely unprotected. But there’s a good amount of indoor seating and standing room at the Indio City Hall. You can get involved in two ways: 🗣️ Speak at the City Council meeting on 7/15 @ 5:00 pm. You will use a “Request to Speak” form for Agenda Item 10.7. Forms are in the hall before the council chambers.
