Got a chance to say goodbye to @jace.stallman before he heads back to Minnesota. Camped out next to the tallest point in Idaho. Almost got the Jeep stuck. Said hi to some mountain goats. Western Red Cedars can live for 1,000+ years in the right growing conditions. This small grove hidden north of Murray Idaho has been standing for longer than humans have been speaking English. It was very humbling to say the least. taken in Settlers Grove Trail, Idaho National Forest by @cvogelschmidt

It's so hard to completely explain everything that led up to me taking this video. I don't mean to be dramatic but all of the pieces that had to fall in place and all of the mistakes I had to make that led me to my current job couldn't have happened the same way if you replayed my life 1,000 times. Dropping out of school, moving to Oregon, missing out on several opportunities to do this same thing for the feds just because I couldn't get my act together in time. All of it was literally just a flip of the coin and I got so incredibly lucky. Count your blessings and never give up. Give thanks for every day you wake up alive and eat a hot meal. Nothing in this life is for certain.

(P.S Thank you to @frances_brauneis for answering the phone when my base was trying to contact me and register me for training. They were about to finish their list and I slid in right at the end just because of her. I wouldn't be fighting fire without her) taken in Idaho by @cvogelschmidt
