POSTS STORIES REELS

Do you ever need reminders of the things you have accomplished? Your little achievements. Like the day you went for a walk when you really wanted to stay inside, and you felt the sunshine on your face and felt better for it.

Or maybe something bigger, like a win at work, or nailing that mountain biking feature you.ve been eyeing up for years.

Life flys by and it’s easy to forget the little moments and to not stop to celebrate the big ones.

This is a little excerpt from Episode #32 of @weatherproofpodcast (it will be live at 8am PST tomorrow), where we discuss Imposter Syndrome and feeling like a fraud.

The snow has finally arrived and we’re getting after it! While the stoke is high, we are committed to our systems. As part of our early backcountry ski season routine, we do a couple practice sessions to warm up our instincts and hone our avalanche safety skills. Check out Episode 30 - Making the Most of your Companion Rescue Practice for more on how we roll in the mountains.

We’re back!

We took three weeks off uploading episodes over Christmas, and on Monday we posted Episode #31.

Which means… that in 2023, the @weatherproofpodcast produced THIRTY episodes! 😱

It’s a little mind blowing to us that we’ve been uploading new episodes every Monday since the 15th May 2023 (bar a couple of planned breaks).

So to kick off 2024, we’ve done a bit of reflection. Things we’ve learnt as a team, as individuals, and as podcasters over the last thirty episodes.

🎧 Join in for some raw, real and relatable stories about what it’s like to research, produce and share on a podcast.

This is a friendly reminder to do the things you love, the things that make you feel like you, with people that light you up. #outdoors #alpine #hiking #heartonfire #womenwhohike ❤️‍🔥 by @cwlutes

Communication is complicated. Humans are complicated!

Asking for what we need can be hard, in fact even knowing what we need can be hard.

When we are in the backcountry on trip and we are hungry and tired, we can get self focused, and start telling ourself all sorts of stories about what our trip partners are thinking.

Non-violent communication, gives us an incredibly useful framework to ask for our needs to be met: observation -> feeling -> need -> request.

It takes out the blame game, focuses the story around “I” instead of “you”, and helps our request be received instead of met with defensiveness.

Try it out, and let us know how it goes!
