We broke the record in 2001 with over 1.6 million comments—more than 90 percent wanted stronger protections for roadless areas. Let’s set a new record. Just five days left! See link in bio to comment @troutunlimited by @cwoodtrout
What happens to hunting and fishing on 45 million acres of public land if the Roadless Rule goes away? Join Chris Wood, President and CEO of Trout Unlimited, and Ryan 'Cal' Callaghan, President and CEO of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers, for a live conversation as they talk through what’s at stake with guides, retired Forest Service managers, and the people who know these lands best. Tuesday, September 8, 4pm ET. Free and virtual. Link in bio to register. by @cwoodtrout
ICYMI: The U.S. Forest Service has filed to rescind the 2001 Roadless Rule.  Roadless areas aren’t locked up. They protect the quality of the access we already have: clean water, healthy trout streams, and unfragmented elk and mule deer habitat. And to be clear, the wildfire argument doesn’t hold up. 80% of human-caused wildfires start within half a mile of a road. More roads = more bills, less backcountry. PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD IS NOW OPEN. Call Congress at (202) 224-3121 or use the link in bio to leave a comment. Tell them DO NOT RESCIND THE ROADLESS RULE. by @cwoodtrout
I understand the cynicism about commenting on a federal government action. When we developed the roadless rule 25 years ago... an action that protected, our drinking water, fish and wildlife, and outdoor tradtions—we had 1.6 million comments. Ninenty percent of which favored stronger protections for roadless areas of the National Forest System. Let’s double that this time around. Click the link in the bio to comment. Please and thank you! by @cwoodtrout
