What an amazing weekend! I got to finally experience one of my most shaping bands from a truly defining era in my life, live, all thanks to my wonderful girlfriend & good friends. My Chemical Romance will always hold a near and dear place in my soul. BABYMETAL, who opened for them, was super sick too, as I’d never seen them live as well, nor really knew much of their music until this weekend. I became an instant fan.

Hey Beau Beau, we took a trip to one of your favorite places on earth today, Rosie’s dog beach, and I brought you along with us. Honey came too. She would’ve been a lot more brave if you were there to show her how to play in the water, but she did her best! I think she’s slowly learning to love it, but I can’t imagine she ever will as much as you did.

We walked our usual path you and I would take & watched all of the pups play, dig, and the occasional one that would go and mark someone else’s towel/umbrella 😂 You would’ve also been joyed to know that the doggy shower was out of commission. You always hated that part of the day, having to wash off all of your best ‘sandy’ work.

Oh my sweet boy, Beau. Today marks a full year since I lost you. Nothing’s been even remotely the same since, but I’m finding new ways to move through this thing called life. It’s been so very hard not having you here, and I think about you every day. From when I drop an ice cube on the ground and pause for a moment, expecting to hear you running in. Or when the mailman scans a package outside the front door, you hated that ‘BEEP’ sound (don’t worry, I bark for you now) 😂 To all the food I’ve been cooking lately and how you’d come to get your cut, man you would’ve loved it.

We’re going to the beach tomorrow, your favorite one with all the dogs, to celebrate your life. I know you’ll be there with us.

Thank you for sharing your life with me and others. To know you was to love you. I’m the luckiest boy in the whole world to have had a best friend in you. I love and miss you so, so much. Until we meet again…

I wish I had more time, but nearly every minute of this trip was used up in some of my favorite ways. Way too much food was consumed, naturally.

Happy birthday to my wonderful girlfriend, whose sense of adventure, humor, curiosity and of good food is constantly inspiring me to be a better version of myself, and to discover more delicious food. Your goofiness, willingness to be weird unconditionally and your quick wit are unmatched, and I can’t believe I’m one who gets to be apart of it every single day.

Firefall? More like FireFAIL. Year 2 at attempting to witness the Yosemite Firefall, but once again the conditions were juuust right so we’d miss it. But, we still made the most of the trip and this weekend was amazing. Oh, and happy birthday @emilyyytuyet! Capped the weekend off with some outstanding BBQ from @smokin.oak.bbq in Mariposa.

A perfect day spent in a perfect way with a perfect girl. 2 years ago today I realized I had to actually ask you to be my girlfriend (duh) & that you weren’t just because we had a couple amazing dates. I’m a fair share of idiot. What better way to celebrate it than to bring it back to the exact spot (and almost time).
