The following is a message from our race director @onko_rinkus

Here we are, staring down the barrel of another cyclocross season. As the days get shorter and the nippy autumn air raises goosebumps on my not-so-recently shaved leg hair follicles, I take this time to reflect. The year is 2026 and life has become a panopticon of dreadful boredom where time seems to pass quicker than ever, yet each day is a drawn out relentless doomscroll of A.I. generated advertisements designed to convince us that our lives might be better if we play out our roles in the surveillance state capitalist system that hands us bite sized joy in the form of the all-new Panera sandwich lunch combo enjoyed sitting on plastic furniture in the soulless overpriced apartment plaza that was erected atop the rubble of a recently demolished bowling alley (we loved that bowling alley). But I offer you hope. Yes, a reprieve from the never-ending parade of bad news and intellectually vacuous daily humdrum. This coming October 24th weekend you can join us for the 48th(!) running of Surf City Cyclocross. A weekend that is so profoundly fun that despite all odds, it still rears its head each year to celebrate the magic that is bike racing.

By golly, it doesn't even cost much. The price of three burritos gets you in with two nights of camping. Plenty of clean porta-potties. Don't wanna plan meals? No problem, the Good Times Crew is serving up food all weekend. With only a tiny bit of rain to keep dust down you'll have to suck it up and deal with sunny skies and perfect temperatures.

Just remember, when you're old you won't be proud of how many hours you spent on the couch drooling at the television. In the year 2035 when choose-your-own-sci-fi-horror movie future predictions come true, your brain, which will barely be functional now that robots run our lives, will have fuzzy memories of Kell McKenzie bunny hopping the bonfire on a pixie bike. I predict you'll regret not having a costume for the Halloween race. And that's ok. Plenty of others have been working on theirs for months and you can just enjoy from the sidelines. The only regret that matters is the one from staying home by @cxmagazine

ONE DESCENT. THREE FAVOURITES. TOTAL CHAOS.

ALL THREE WERE OK. The soft sand finally made itself useful.

Looking back at the 2025/26 cyclocross season, this moment from Zonhoven still takes some believing. @puckpieterse , @lucinda_brand and @ceylinalvarado all came down on the same descent, just seconds apart.

Even the best can get caught out in the Kuil.

Which moment from last season should we revisit next? Drop the race and the rider below.

LAST SEASON’S BEST CX SPRINT?

With road season winding down, it’s time for CX. A look back at Van Aert vs Del Grosso in Heusden-Zolder, one of the closest and most exciting finishes of the 2025/26 season.

Which other moments from last CX season should I post next? Drop them in the comments.

🥜 NUTTY CROSS IS BACK 🥜

California’s biggest cyclocross race returns to @ruhstallerbeer Farm in Dixon on Sunday, November 22, 2026.

Swipe through for what it actually looks like: mud, hand-ups, a kids race, live music, a relay race, beer & food trucks, and a whole lot of people not taking themselves too seriously. That’s the point. It’s hard, it’s a mess, and it’s the most fun you’ll have on a bike all fall.

🚴 Never raced cyclocross before? Your first one is FREE. Email chris@boundlesslocomotion.com to claim your entry.
🎟 Registration is OPEN! Tap the link in bio.
👇 Tag the friend who needs to stop saying “next year.”

The @baspcyclocross series has been delivering great racing to the SF Bay Area for a quarter century, but this year might be its most diverse set of venues.

The series expands to eight races and six venues, and kicks off this Sunday with the stunning views from Berkeley's Shoreline Park, just a few miles from the first-ever @usacycling #cxnats.

Get the 411 on the full series on our site today.

Need a new pair of kicks? We rode the new @sidisport_official Dominator X through the early part of this summer. It’s not your Dad’s SIDI Dominator. How does a white shoe hold up in dust and mud? Summer Cutty Cross is here. @obf415cc / @swellbicycles fun at McLaren Park in San Francisco.

This Friday it happens again at Candlestick Park.

Both parks were past venues for @baspcyclocross races that turned out 500+ racers.

#summercx fun with @obf415cc, @swellbicycles and @thesmallmonstersproject. 130 cyclocrossers took in some hot laps and hand-ups on a new course that revisited terrain once used by the @uci_cycling #USGP races.

Racers did one lap around the polo fields before hitting this fun bottleneck into the singletrack.
