If you have been the victim of a data breach, you should stay alert to scammers using phishing messages, emails and calls asking you to click links or share sensitive information.

A data breach occurs when information held by an organisation is stolen or accessed without authorisation. To find out if you have been affected, we recommend contacting the organisation using their official website or social media channels - do not use the links or contact details in any messages you have been sent.

For more guidance on how to spot phishing messages, what to do if your data has been breached, and how to recover a hacked account ⬇️

Cyber security is not just about technology, it's a shared responsibility with people at its heart.

And #CYBERUK, the government's flagship cyber security conference, is all about bringing people together to share ideas and insights - like how it feels to be on the front line when a cyber attack hits.

The NCSC's mission is to make the UK the safest place to live and work online so that everyone can navigate the cyber landscape safely and with confidence.

Comment “cyber” on this post and I’ll send you all of the resources you need!

As I walked around CyberUK, the flagship conference run by the National Cyber Security Centre, I was reminded that a career in cyber security doesn’t look how most people expect.

As Beth Hopkins, COO of @cyberhq, pointed out, “When you think ‘cybersecurity’, you can have a sense of tapping away at a keyboard, but actually, it’s brought me into contact with all of the big questions of the day.”

This was noticeable throughout the event: from the keynote talks and sessions, to the fantastic networking events – including the Women in Cyber breakfast!

I spoke with leading cyber security experts in both technical and non-technical roles and it was clear that you don’t need one specific background.

Everyone can get into cyber.

And if you want to get involved, comment “cyber” on this post and I’ll send you all of the links, or check out the link in my bio! 🚀

This #WorldPasskeyDay, we recommend accepting the prompt to set up a passkey when you create an online account. Or, go to your account settings on apps and websites you already use to get started. Use passkeys where you can, (and keep using strong passwords plus two-step verification where you can’t). For more tips, visit NCSC.gov.uk/passkeys. by @cyberhq
