Really enjoyed watching GITS with friends last night. It was a cool night. My friend Luis hooked it up with pop corn and soda & Good o Kaijutrinitron hooked us up with some food after the movies. Seeing this on the big screen was a cool experience. INSERT 100¥ Enjoy the sounds and vision of Taito Hey, Mikado Game Center & BEEP. Whats a trip to Japan without its own dedicated arcade post right. I’ve been coming to Japan way back since 2012, and some places have seen better days. Particularly SEGA buildings. SEGA building 4 and the most iconic of them all which was SEGA Building 2 with its exposed escalators with a touch of orange and the SEGA logo all of which you can see from the outside of the building have permanently closed down. Thanks again KOBID smdh :/ Now theres one thing I’ll never forget about my first trip to Japan which was back in 2012, exiting Akihabara Station and seeing an iconic view of 3 things, Onoden building, Matsumoto Kiyoshi which is literally under a JR track and Sega Building 3. But now its been rebranded as a GIGO building. You dont see the SEGA logo on this or any of the other buildings anymore. Mind you GIGO has actually been around since 2003 or later. I didn’t know anything about GIGO I just knew as long as I saw the SEGA logo on the building I knew I was home. According to some things I’ve read and heard across the web GIGO is a company that worked and maintained Sega’s arcade locations. I’ve also heard that Bandai Namco has their hands in this too. Might explain why all sega buildings has almost nothing but floors of UFO/Claw machines. They all still have a floor dedicated to arcade games like Retro-G which is the floor dedicated to arcade games. Now back in the states if you see an “arcade” with nothing but redemption games thats a big NO for the community or arcade. I did go to Sega arcade just twice but I always found myself going back to Taito Hey and will be for other future travels to Japan. I believe Taito Hey only has one floor for UFO/Claw machines so yeah this is the place for the community to go. Recently I just came to Game Center Mikado. It offered a little something different.
