For those of you who don’t know I caught a 43lb Mossback in 2017. It took 2 years but I finally caught another home-guard yellow. This one was 32lbs and I brought it in record time due to it running into a big kelp patty right after the first big run. It was on the deck in less than 10 minutes including 2 minutes of gaffing time. @carterrawson sealed the deal by making a great gaff shot. Just a little bit disappointing that I wasn’t bigger than my last one but I’ll take a 30lb+ yellow any day. @carterrawson @sdpescador @filthyanglers @death_from_above_socal @liquid_assassins @fishallbrand #sdpescador #dfacrew #pieryellowtail #yellowtail #homegaurd #mossback taken in Pacific Beach Pier by @cyborgstarfish

🄳I’m glad to say I caught another pier yellowtail this year!🄳 this one was 42lbs I was able to fight it for a while before it got tired. Shout out to @halex5251 for fighting it for a couple minutes during the fight while I finished my burrito. And @its.jjosie for the pictures and video. @sdpescador @halex5251 @tiffyboo619 @slayin_with_alex @halibut_hunters @pacific.beach @carterrawson @fenwickfishing @okumafishingusa @danalanding @izorlineinternational @ownerhooks @crystalpierbaitandtackle @warbaits #yellowtail #homegaurd #californiayellowtail #shorecaughtyellowtail #yellowtailfftomshore #yellowtailfrompier taken in Pacific Beach Pier by @cyborgstarfish

Part 2 | landed this GIANT 45lb 49ā€ California Halibut in San Diego Bay! It was a Battle!
It bit like a typical drift halibut the bait gets scared, feel the thump, it takes a couple feet of line, I give it some line to let it eat it, then I engage the reel and drill a solid hook set and it peels easily over 40yds of line within 20 seconds. It had me questioning if it really was a halibut or did I get sharked. I took my time maintaining constant pressure easing it up from the depths. Then before I knew it I got to my leader knot and I seen color for the first time!
It was WIDE, Big, and Brown! All I could do was Praise the Lord as came closer to the boat. Then Franky struck it with the gaff right in the stomach but his back hand slipped and the ANGRY halibut bolted back to the deep.
This is about 7 minutes into the fight and I seemed to be back at square one and it seemed to be heavier than before. But slowly 1 crank at a time it 7 minutes later it was at gaff again. It seemingly knew to stay away from the boat the second time as I’m trying to steer it to a good gaff shot it almost spits the hook at the surface and at the same time I get the worst timing phone call just to add to all immense pressure. But through the confusion Franky stuck a great gaff shot, his hand didn’t slip and we landed the MONSTER HALIBUT!
He lays on top of it just in case it tries to flop away and we properly dispatch the fish and take Glory Fish Pictures! At the end of the day I weighed it at the @danalanding official IGFA scale and it came out to 45.2lbs #californiahalibut #halibut #sandiego #sandiegobay by @cyborgstarfish

New PB Spotty from the sand at 17.5ā€! This 1st big spotty bit in the rain not too far in front of me after I already pulled 4 spotties out of the same small area. The white spots on its fins and belly tells me this fish is old. This spotty also had a small rip in the corner of the lip means it’s most likely been caught before.
The next spotty is truly one of a kind. It looked healthy with some old warriors wounds across its back with scales that happened to grow back in a spiraled way. Also it ate the 130 Flashminnow just as the lure came into view.
The next two fish are solid Spotties on Ultralite.
The last spotty unfortunately ate someone’s bait rig and they mishandled the fish by not getting the hook out. But as we’ve seen with other spotties they are very resilient fish that will just Keep on Swimming. @reelhappyco @zmanfishingproducts @warbaits @ghoulie.jigs @luckycraftsw taken in San Diego, California by @cyborgstarfish
